They talk before the face off, drop them soon after, both connect big punches at the same time, then they both grapple and throw some small punches, eventually Malone got some better hits in and got Clarkson's helmet off. I would say slight edge Malone. Nice to see a scrap where the refs keep out of it and let them go. Maybe we will see BGL vs. Rupp later, they have had some words. The power play they did have towards the end of the period did have a great chance but Martin wasn't able to stop in front of the net to put it home. Hopefully they generate more pressure in the 2nd. The lack of offense was noticeable that period but I don't think it had anything to do with lack of creativity or anything like that. Olczyk pointed out that there just isn't any room out there. Pitt just seems like a big team and they are quick. As soon as the Devils get the puck in the Pens zone, they swarm on top of the Devils and force the turnover. It was nice to see Martin and Rachunek try to move the puck forward. We need more of that. Hopefully the Devils can get some bounces because there doesn't look like there is going to be that many opportunities to score tonight. Oduya was having his stick held one second before Malkin took that gigantic dive to Carolina. Its ridiculous. There should have been 2 calls on the Pens on that play and Oduya winds up with the penalty. We only have a chance against crappy teams like the Kings or Flyers who crap in their pants every time they see a Devils logo. When was the last time we even dared to think about a shutout?
