Marshall
He has looked great in the games he has played and he's always been very frank with how his body feels. I think he's in good enough shape to hold up for the rest of the season. Obviously I'd die of joy if he'd end up playing for us, but that ain't ever gonna happen. I hope he goes to the Avs.
SatansDevils
Philadelphia is not interested in Forsberg I believe and he has said he would like to go back to Colorado, but don't think they are interested. Would like to see him come to the Devils, but highly unlikely. Edited November 4, 2009 by SatansDevils
MantaRay
Philadelphia is not interested in Forsberg I believe and he has said he would like to go back to Colorado, but don't think they are interested. Would like to see him come to the Devils, but highly unlikely. Why would Colorado or Philly be interested? They have alot of good young talent that is starting develop. Adding a injury prone former player would disrupt this and set it back. I doubt that any good GM would serious consider a has been like Floppa. Move on people, nothing to talk about here. Maybe we can start a new thread about signing Jason Allison or Pierre Turgeon they played in the Forsberg era.
ghdi
If Forsberg is healthy like he says he is and he'd be willing to come here, it'd be foolish not to sign him. The guy has arguably the best hands in the history of the sport and guys like Bergfors would become much better than they probably are playing with Foppa. That being said, theres way too much doubt regarding his health and he probably wouldnt come here, but its a low risk/high reward situation. He's not going to break the bank and it wouldnt be long term. Move on people, nothing to talk about here. Maybe we can start a new thread about signing Jason Allison or Pierre Turgeon they played in the Forsberg era. This is silly. You're comparing Peter Forsberg to Jason Allison (a pylon) and Pierre Turgeon (a nutcase) to one of the greatest players of the last 20 years, if not all-time. Im not saying to sign him, but if he is healthy, he fits a definite need on this team. Im not his doctor so its really beyond any of us to say anything about his health currently. Obviously, there'd need to be some serious medical inquiries before even considering bringing him into the fold. That said, its not going to happen because he wont want to play here, even if he'd all but be assured of the 2nd line center. Its hardly a huge investment to bring him in for a year. Its no risk practically. Edited November 4, 2009 by ghdi

And your sentence should have read: "he HAD one best pair of hands in the sport" That was years ago. Forsberg was a vert good player when he was healthy, but hardly the greatest. He participated in ONE Stanley Cup victory, the team won without him in another. He played on a very talented team with a Hall of Fame goalie. There is a reason no serious contenders are going after him. He's done.

HellOnICE
There's nothing to lose in going after Forsberg, other than $$$...and a possible headache. To me his upside is well worth the risk and drama. If you can add a talent like Peter, you do it. But I don't think NJ is for him.

William
$$$...and a possible headache he was the best player Great, let's see if Gretzky will come out of retirement too. your arguments aren't logical. gretzky is a decade out of playing and retired past his prime. when injuries started hampering king foppa he was in his prime and even post lock out he averaged a ppg. if you don't want him on thedevils quite frankly there is something wrong with you. I'd be for that. 99 is probably better than Pelley, Rolston, Pikkaraenan, etc.

In fairness to Manta, he doesn't want anyone from outside the organization on this team it seems and only begrudgingly gives praise on pickups. Forsberg is all-world talent when hes 100%, which yes, has not been the case over the last few years. And your sentence should have read: "he HAD one best pair of hands in the sport" That was years ago. He's never injured his hands. You can lose mobility and stuff like that, but players of Forsberg's talent will never lose their ability to handle a stick. Hes the same age as Rolston for crying out loud. MantaRay
Bottom Line: Lou isn't going to do it because it doesn't make sense. So fantasize on!!!!
Devils731
Bottom Line: Lou isn't going to do it because it doesn't make sense. So fantasize on!!!! It definitely would make sense if Forsberg had any interest in being a NJ Devils. I doubt think Forseberg does so then it's moot whether it makes sense or not. Just adding Forsberg to the Devils PP would be worthwhile as you're not going to add someone in a deadline deal who would add as much nor for such little future cost to the team. Par9
zubrus is not a failure. I agree in a a way though most people on this board think so. Yes to big of a contract but he starting to show his strengths. This thread should be lets take this thread over! PETER FORSBERG will and won't ever in his or Louis Lamoriello or Peter Forsbergs mind come to NJ!! Why the hell would Lou sign a center so we have Zajac, Elias, Zubrus, Pelley, Niedermeyer, and Forsberg?? He hasnt played a legit full season since 02-03 and he has stated he want to go back to a former team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
'7'
It makes perfect sense if he's healthy. Low cost and we don't have to trade anybody, great two way player which would fit in well with our system, 2nd line center. Heck he makes more sense than Shanahan last year. DevilinLA
all it would take would be to get his trademarked "injury" after 2 games so he can ride the press box, then all the same folks advocating picking him up would be crucifying him, Lou, and ....uh.....Marty (might as well blame someone)! Amberite
I'm not sure why this is still being discussed. This is beyond wishful thinking.
