ghdi
What a deal for both teams Its a perfect deal. Pittsburgh gets cap space + Sutter. Sutter goes right into Staals role + the damn draft pick. Carolina gets Jordan Staal. Pittsburgh "wins", but its a great trade for both. Shero scored.
moustic
Way too much cap space for Pittsburg now.. that's scare me... a lot
GoArmySports
Imagine if the Pens sign Parise...might as well just give them the cup.
Devil Dan 56
Imagine if the Pens sign Parise...might as well just give them the cup. They will need to carry 3 massive contracts in Malkin, Crosby and Parise if they did that.
Toaster13
Wow, great deal for the Pens. Sutter and the 8th Overall (Pouliot) for Jordan Staal.
thefiestygoat
Surprised Forsberg wasn't PIT's pick but this was a great trade for them.
Parisalchuk
pierre is literally salivating at the thought right now of parise signing with the penguins. he wont stop repeating himself
DevilinLA
Who cares - its like everything PIT does every year is fvcking magical. The year they signed Martin and Michalek every pundit and NHL "expert" made it sound as if they just built Rome - now they can't move these guys out fast enough. Happy for Staal - gets to play with his brother and into the spotlight - other than that - fvck 'em. ghdi
I want more blockbuster deals! Yea, that was like the big set piece in an action movie. The draft is like the English Patient otherwise.
Devil Dan 56
Shero just said Pittsburgh can't afford Staal in the times of salary caps, yet these announcers think they can afford Parise with Crosby's contract expiring soon.
hattrick
They will need to carry 3 massive contracts in Malkin, Crosby and Parise if they did that. Yup... but will Crosby be healthy enough to play well prior to his recurring concussion symptoms.
ghdi
Yup... but will Crosby be healthy enough to play well prior to his recurring concussion symptoms. They will still be paying Sid. He's their franchise more than anyone else. If they can't afford Staal, they're not going to get Parise.
maxpower
They could sign him with or without this deal. There's not THAT much saving between Sutter and Staal. Sutter is already on his second deal and has a slightly more than $2M per cap hit. Staal's is exactly $4M.
ghdi
UFA signing but announced tonight #LAKings re-sign Jarret Stoll. 3 years. #NHL $9.275M over 3 years Edited June 23, 2012 by ghdi

ghdi
6 straight defensemen selected, 7 of 9 picks selected are defensemen. Really shocked Forsberg is falling. Would love to see Lou get up and steal him, but with the price of climbing so far being pretty high, Im not confident at all in that dream. I can't recall seeing Forsberg fall this far in any mock drafts. All the rankings like him, though I guess this is a year for defensemen. I wonder if TBL will go for him or another D like Ceci with their pick here? Grigorenko was expected to fall, but Forsberg is a huge shock. Not surprised there. Wonder what the GMs know about Forsberg.
