  1. So just for the hell of it: Luke played 80 games with Michigan and put up 27 G and 60 A for 87 points. Seamus played in 77 games with Michigan and put up 15 G and 59 A for 74 points. If Casey actually stays here (still hard to imagine that any true needle-moving "right now" kind of player won't see Casey go as part of a return), will be interesting to see how much his lack of size will be an issue in the pro game. On another note, not saying that I would deal for him, but Mitch Marner's situation is intriguing...for one, I think he's quickly gaining a rep as a loser who puts up nice numbers in the regular season but doesn't get it done when you really need him to...which makes this year's cap hit (over $10 million) and the idea of extending him to massive money not necessarily an attractive proposition for a number of teams. Makes you wonder how much Toronto could realistically expect to get for him in a deal...he has "one year rental" written all over him. I can see some team (like Columbus) making the mistake of signing him to big money and thinking they just landed a major cornerstone piece.
  2. Wow...welcome aboard Seamus! If Fitz was THAT high on Green, he simply would've named him the head coach by now, especially since another team in Ottawa has gotten involved...even if we thought Buffalo was nuts for hiring Lindy, the fact is that they targeted their guy and didn't fvck around with it; FWIW, Fitz is clearly not doing the same with Green. I don't think Fitz is faking interest in other candidates just to keep us happy...put it this way, are we going to be happy if Green's ultimately hired no matter WHEN it happens? What would Fitz gain by dragging things out and pretending to look around? If Green gets the gig then I'm guessing at least 90% of the fan base will be furious, no matter what the circumstances. I suspect most of the hardcore fans will be done with Fitz if he sticks with Green (me among them). Like many Devils fans, I cringe whenever I hear "strong candidate", but let me see Green actually get the job.
  3. And Stearns REALLY has to seriously explore what an Alonso trade at or near the deadline would look like. He’s been a sub-.220 hitter for what’s quickly coming up on a 200-game sample…this is not some isolated extended slump. Hitting a lot of home runs loses something when you’re simply not hitting enough in general. The Mets have already made one massive investment with mixed returns in Lindor. Some guys have terrific years earlier on but lose it earlier than most, and sadly it feels like Alonso might very well have already had his best years.
  4. The Mets have NO chance if Diaz can’t be the 2022 version of himself. Not nearly enough margin of error. Another hitless nothing day for “Now Bora$ is my agent” Alonso.
  5. Suffice it to say that 2024 Diaz isn’t THE Diaz anymore.
  6. So with a two-run shot today, Lindor somehow has 17 RBI over his last 16 GP. Doesn’t feel like that, mostly because 8 of them came in two separate games of 4 each. And all of the RBI came in 7 out of 17 games. He also hasn’t been red hot from a hitting and OB% standpoint…and has been racking up a fair amount of Ks.
  7. From what I’ve seen reading around, sure looks like the Leaf faithful would happily drive Marner to the airport, never to return. 10 goals in 57 playoff games would do that I suppose.
  8. Can’t build the offense around the Loser Twins. Hopefully Stearns is seeing that.
  9. No one said that the players are blameless. And it’s not like coaches don’t get canned in the NHL…there’s a reason why so many are looking for a new job. I’d be very surprised if Montgomery was let go, even though if his team were to lose, that would be two straight first-round exits after having been up in each series. I wouldn’t fire him myself. Re: the Leafs, Keefe is in his fourth season and Treliving inherited him; if it’s yet another first-round exit, I can see Treliving wanting to bring in his own guy. Gotta think Keefe would get another gig if he was let go.
  10. Crazy game tonight. Mets take a 3-0 lead, fall behind 9-3, now trailing 9-7. At least Pete drove in a damned run for a change.
  11. FWIW I read somewhere that Brind'Amour and the Canes want to work out an extension...but guess that could change if the Rangers somehow make short work of them.
  12. I’m rather surprised that Berube has yet to be hired by ANYONE TBH. How did LINDY get hired before him?!
  13. Exactly this. Not to mention that every candidate interviewed represents the Devils not bringing Green back next year. Like you, McClellan isn’t my first choice, but unlike Green, he’s definitely not my LAST choice.
  14. He played for them in 1987-88...total of five games (his NHL career). He can say that he not only played in the NHL, but scored a goal and notched an assist. That's pretty cool...lots of NHL hopefuls who can't say the same.
