  1. I've never sat in 233, or met any of you guys, but you've been classy with a tough situation all day.
  2. +1 If Sal isn't in, the only physical d-man they have is White, unless you play Leach, who just doesn't have the ability. Sal is more talented than he's played lately. His ability to fix it might be as important as Zubbie's.
  3. The Zubrus Rupp Clarkson line didn't play badly though. That team had a lot of flaws, but Zubbie played physical with those guys, and its not like they had many options.
  4. The Avery thing was a sidewhow when it happened too. The Devils couldn't score, they had some trash players on the blueline who are gone now, and Marty was overworked. Was Avery annoying? Yes. Was he the reason we lost the series? No. He doesn't make the Rangers that much better, while the Devils are a lot better than last year. Marty's rested (not by choice), we have three lines that can score (if Rolston gets his sh1t together), and the "no-name" d is pretty damn good.

    REFS BLOW!!!!!!!!!

The refs are tougher on us than other teams. I'm not claiming there's some conspiracy theory, but there was an article a couple months ago looking at the number of power plays teams get, and we were near the bottom, f not at the bottom. The Devils don't dive. I'm proud of that, and I respect them more for it. Also, it's a symptom of never quitting on a play, and I guarantee we've benefitted from that attitude. That said, the refs are TERRIBLE at spotting dives, so teams get rewarded whenever somebody hits the ice. A bunch of b1tches like Carolina dives or leans to draw calls, the idiots calling the game are going to give them the PP. Zach, Patty, or Jamie get manhandled, but fight through it, there's a decent chance the refs miss it. Earlier in the year we were winning no matter how bad the refs were. Now that we're ice cold, we're not able to overcome a couple of bad calls. The calls have been bad, but if we're going to win the cup, we need to fix our game. We're not ever going to dive, so we'd better tighten up the PK and capitolize when we DO get powerplays. The 2nd unit's been sad lately, Shanny needs more touches, Rolston needs to put the puck on net, and we need somebody better in front of the net. It's gotten too easy for teams to focus on PP1 (and ZZPop during 5 on 5 for that matter), and the rest of the team needs to step up its game.
  6. This is a jinx, what if Zach gets hurt tomorrow?
  7. I don't love the Gionta comparison because he has never been able to create for himself (and others) as well as Zach. I have no love for Gomez, but Gio always did his best work when Gomez was playing well. This year, if Elias has struggled, so has Gio. Parise makes everyone around him better, and even when he's slumping (the past week), he's still getting assists. Nobody made plays like Gio in 05-06, but he needed some help getting started.

If all fatcessa's gonna talk about is attendance, he should mention that our attendance has gone UP during the recession.

    White injury

Lately they've really brought it for Weekes. I think that happens again tonight. Is there any talk of bringing Jay Leach back? I don't love that Salvador's their only physical dman.

    White injury

    http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2009/03...in_white_2.html Could be worse.
  12. This was special. Patty and Marty both deserve everything they've gotten and more.
  13. No argument about Mason, and in spite of Boston's recent struggles, I would vote Tim Thomas over Marty. He's been a rock for that team.
  14. If you don't mind walking a little, the cheapest lot in the area is on the other side of the train tracks. Just go under the tracks and make a right. It's safe enough, if poorly lit.
  15. Weeked should get in, I don't want them to kill Marty before the playoffs.
  16. I shelled out 1/4 of my bank account for 2 seats in 209.
  17. Marty deserves all the praise he's getting (and a lot more than he's gotten on this thread) not only because he was damn good, but because he's a class act. He's a leader in the clubhouse and a great guy, something you couldn't say about Roy or Hasek. All 3 were special players. but Marty's the best teammate/franchise ambassador of the 3. I can't afford to get to many games, but I'm not missing this one. We're lucky to have watched him for all these years.

    Dont look now!!

I agree, but Elias and Parise are also excellent 4 on 4 players, which doesn't hurt.
  19. That's not a knock on the Devils. It's strengthening his point, that Jeter's only edge is hype. Everyone in the city knows about the Canyon of Heroes. Very few people about the parking lot. The article's main point is that everyone in the city notices Jeter and not Brodeur.
  20. I'm torn because of the 2001 finals. I've heard the arguments, but at the end of that series, Roy outplayed Marty. That said, Marty's been a better teamate for years, and I'm not going to let 2 games determine who was the better player. I voted Marty, and if Marty gets a 4th cup, I won't have any questions.
  21. I've been complaining about Clarkson falling for the past couple years. That said, he's actually gotten better this year, especially since January.
  22. He took less money to play with his brother. He said it was tough for him to watch his brother lose even while he was winning in 2003. I can't blame him for that. Let's not get him confused with Gomez.

    MSG is horrible

Also, I have an HDTV, and when I dont get an HD game, it crops wrong, so I couldn't see the clock all game. Plus if I hear the bald man talk about one more time I'm gonna snap.
