Devilsdude530
If Doc Emrick, who called yesterday's Bruins-Rangers on NBC, were a national network's lead baseball or football play-by-player, he would be widely known as among the finest in the history of television. msweet
I always felt Doc Emrick is the best on the Devil's team and doesn't get enough recognition as maybe the best ever.
Colorado Rockies 1976
It's nice to see that that cranky curmudgeon actually had something good to say about someone for a change. On the plus side, he does call out Mike and the Mad Dog on their arrogance and stupidity. But Mushnick still comes off as a bitter relic who takes himself and the field he covers far too seriously. eldon
I love Mush, he's a critic who's hired to do what he does. Of course I don't always agree, but he does call out the hypocrites, and most times he's on the fan's side. As for doc, we all know what we got. It's hard to believe in the 90's the Flyers let him go.
El Diablo
I disagree M - I think all the people in the know realize the jewel Doc is -- hence his multi-network deals where he's called Stanley Cups, Olympics, All-Star and outdoor games. If its important - Doc calls it .., FOX - ABC -ESPN- NBC-MSG-VS-FSN .. whatever !
GOLDJR41
Sig worthy for me.

DevilNurn
I wish he were the one calling NHL 08 or NHL 2K8, it'd be so great. Not that Gary Thorne is bad, but I never get tired of hearing some of Doc's calling. He really is the best hockey commentator in my book. Kulags
I second that. But I think I'd be ripping slapshots constantly just to keep hearing "BIG DRIIIIVE!"
StarDew
Gary Thorne needs a dictionary on how to properly pronounce player's names...Doc wrote one

devils26
Well in my games it's always "here they come, 3 on 2!" But if Doc recorded maybe 5 or 6 variations on it, it could work. Obviously there are kinks to work out but I'd rather hear his phrasing.
MantaRay
Good for Musnick. I have always felt that we are very fortunate to have the best PbP announcer in all of sports calling NJD games. Doc Rocks!
swampdevil
Doc is the best play by play guy in the league .... by far Pierre Maguire is the best color guy in the league .... by far Gary Thorne seemed to be on the network fast track at one point,he did some great work with the Devs including Johnny Macs OT thrilla in Chicago.I can tell you the whole schilling bloody sock hoax he tried to bring to light while with the Orioles hasnt helped his rep or credibility the last couple years.
