Heil Obama?

Recommended Posts

My point is that whenever the US (GOD BLESS AMERICA) is mentioned in an argument you get this sanctimonious elitist air about you and throw Canada out there. Typical. :blahblah:

I don't see how you can infer that someone is being elitist if he says that a left-wing politician in this country would be considered right-wing in his. Actually, your first post is the first place to mention, albeit in a sarcastic manner, that Canada is better then the US. Not sure if that qualifies as ironic...maybe just hypocrisy.

I would venture to guess he is referring to past statements as well

Don, there is no way that Senator Obama is actually the most 'Liberal' Senator in the US and in any case, the meaning of Liberal doesn't necessarily line up with what you would recognize as socialist. It's used to scare people in this country as believeing the Marxists are coming. However, right now, two Senators who are considered very liberal, Dodd and Feingold, are actually aligned with the Libertarians (who aren't exactly known as a bastion of Socialist thought) to prevent further erosion of 4th Amendment liberties. Obama (as is McCain) is currently slated to vote against Dodd and Feingold but assures us that he will still safeguard our liberties when he has these powers (in other words, it's OK, really, for a Democrat to have an 'Imperial Presidency', just not a Republican, I wonder what Obama will think of his vote if McCain actually wins, but I digress).

Essentially, the same people look at the Democratic primaries every 4 years and dub the potential nominee the most liberal. In the traditional Socialist sense, Bernie Sanders, who caucuses with the Democrats but is actually elected as an Independent Socialist from Vermont, is actually much farther to the left.

I'm not enamored of either candidate...then again, I'm an independent and used to not being actually represented by candidates for office.

Which of your liberties right now are being "eroded".

These pathetic lines meaning nothing are just ridiculous Sue.

And an "Imperial Presidency".....................come on, I thought you were better then that.

Jimmy, I regulary phone Canada for my business and sometimes Italy. I have friends in England with whome I regularly correspond by email and I send emails up to Canada daily. The government has no business not getting a warrant, even from the frigging FISA court, which it could have done if it had any evidence I am a terrorist, if it wanted to collect my data. Its just to frigging lazy and wants the right to just take my data, regardless of the fact that it has no evidence. So, they will now have the right to collect any electronic correspondence I engage in outside the country without a warrant, which is a violation of the 4th Amendment and if you don't get it, I'm very, very sorry for you. And if you didn't catch the fact that I don't want a Democrat, any Democrat, having these kind of powers as little as I would want a Republican having them than you missed the point. Nobody should have them. I shouldn't have them.

143 days

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.

It's not thread worthy but.......

Yay distortion. The actual "article" says "143 of senate experience". Obama has far more than that in work experience. Of course Bush had 0 days of senate experience....

It's a knock to not have been a senator before becoming president? Why do senators seem less likely to become presidents than governors then? I just find it funny to be upset at distortion and then try to make it appear Bush had less experience because he hadn't been a senator.

Has Obama actually been at the head of any major groups where he was the guy making the final decision? Other than his campaign.

I am just using their logic. I am more likely to vote for someone with no government experience than a career politician. Indeed he has, Wikipedia proclaims that Obama was the head of several community organizing groups in the Chicago area.

You are new, but as a general rule we do not post things from partisan sites like The Nation, Huffington Post, NewsMax or The National Review.

When was that rule written? I've seen NewsMax posted 100 times. Might be a good rule given the "oh that's just NewsMax" and "argue the content, not the source" blah, blah, blah....

And even if that was a rule, there is no enforcer of any rules here... :noclue:

Every time someone posts something from somewhere like that they get called out and most of the time the thread just dies. Leeds tends to be the one to violate it.

If it makes legit points about politics, and sources all of them, what's wrong with it? It's not like it's making things up for its own agenda...

The libs hate facts matcat. Petey just plain lies or is too dumb to grasp anything not from his wacky lefty world. He's so far left, he advocated the execution, EXECUTION, of our own United States Marines based on a accusation from a liberal Senator..................and all the charges were eventually dropped anyway. EXECUTED!

And it usually goes that if political articles comes from the loony left, it's true, and anything from the right is a lie.

Get used to it.

BTW, they won't discuss the issues brought up inthat excellent article, but come back with real intelligent posts like Rowdy's up above.

That's the mind set.

Obama could get caught smoking crack with an 18 year old call girl and he still won't lose this election.

McCain does not have a chance...even the religous freaks and the cracker vote in the south won't help.

Ahh typical Leeds. Show a post where I called for anyone to be executed. You can't. I didn't. And of course if you read my initial post in this thread I call out liberal sites as well. It cuts both ways. I think Rowdy's post was the appropriate response to an article from the national review and a good reason why we have the rule.

Religious freaks? You mean the Muslims trying to kill us?

Cracker vote?

Basically the radical bible belt Christian base of the republican party and the percentage of Americans, mostly in the south and rural areas that won't vote for a black guy no matter what...
