devilsfanincalgary
Remember 2 years ago the sky was falling. Then near the end of the season they go on that long winning streak. The Rangers and Flyers Choke and the Devils win their Division on the last game of the season. Lou knows how to win. Sutter knows how to win. Marty is still the best goalie in the World ( He deserves a pass. ) They will turn this around. They always do

MantaRay
He has not proven so in the NHL, and I don't like the chances of us finishing our season with a 15 game winning-streak again. I don't really know anybody who would.
devilsfanincalgary
He won in the Islander Dynasty. He won a Memorial cup. He is undefeted at the World Juniors 2 years in a row. He was hand picked by Lou.
Jas0nMacIsaac
Sutter will not tolerate losing and neither will Lou. By the end of the season every player will be playing close to their max potential because perfection is expected.

Devil Dan 56
Pleeezzz....Are you going to sing this same song all season? If you don't trust him, trust that LOU TRUSTS HIM.... Face the facts he's the coach, he's staying, get behind him or write off the season Sorry....It's just getting real old.
njdevil26
We are quick to write off the season or hit the panic button around here... -new coach -new system -new lineup -new arena -loss of key players -entire division is much better these are things that take time to sort out... Devilsdude530
On November 15th of 2005, the Devils lost their 5th of 7 at HSBC Arena in Buffalo by a count of 4-1. Their record at the time? 8-8-2. Their record today? 7-9-2. Knowledge is fun.

Triumph
Yeah but lets be realistic here. This team is nowhere near as good or has the depth as the 05-06 team. Edited November 16, 2007 by Triumph
Devilsdude530
Are they really? GOALTENDERS Martin Brodeur Scott Clemmensen DEFENSEMEN Brian Rafalski Vladimir Malakhov Dan McGillis Sean Brown David Hale Paul Martin Colin White (Eventually Albelin, Lukowich and Ken Klee) FORWARDS Pandolfo Parise Madden Brylin Gionta Gomez Janssen Kozlov Langdon Marshall Mogilny Rasmussen (Eventually the likes of Wiemer, Ryznar, Tallackson, Suglobov, and Patrick Elias) Are we THAT worse? TravisZajac
Did you see the roster for those teams?? You don't need to do much to have them win.
Devilsdude530
What does Doug MacLean have to do with this? The roster we have now is, as a whole, better than the 05-06 team's at this point in the season. TZ, I enjoy your drunken broken english most of the time, but your wrong on this one. Don
If I remember correctly, two years ago the correction we made was dumping waste-of-air Mogilny and brought in Elias who played absolutely out of his mind. Who are we waiting to recover from Hepatitis this year? The conditions are completely different. Just because we struggled to start the season in the past and were able to have our asses handed to us in the playoffs doesn't mean the same is going to happen this year. That year I held out hope that (A) Mogilny would get his act together and (B) Elias would be able to return to form. This year I don't think we're good enough to get our asses handed to us in the playoffs.

Triumph
i am amazed that it took this many posts to get to this crucial point. i remember that buffalo game the devils lost 4-1. i remember triumph correctly pointing out that NOBODY on the ice that night for the devils had ever scored 25 goals in a season. if the devils get someone to go on an elias-like hot streak of 60 points in 40 games, then yes, this team has a shot at doing something and finishing in the top 4 for the conference. but i don't know who that person will show up (be it in house or in trade). that doesn't change the fact that a defense of White-Martin Vishnevski-Greene Rachunek-Oduya is not winning a Cup or going particularly far in the playoffs with Brodeur having a GAA of <1.20.
