A-Hole Teenages at the Game

Went to the Rangers Devs game last night. I was pissed about the loss but more pissed about these drunk high school kids sitting behind me. I was with my friend who happened to be a Rangers fan wearing a Bure jersey. I am sure he expected to get a little hastling...but i felt bad for him and I almsot smashed a beer bottle over a little punks head. We were sitting there and the one kids keeps yelling...number 9 you suck you f&cking F@ggot....the whole game....and kept calling him a pansy...but when we turned around he would look the other way like it wasnt him. The whole game these kids are saying stupid sh!t about who is who and throwing pop corn at us...they were like where is Daneyko...and who is number 2...and since when is Jagr on the rangers...I know we hate them (Rangers) but they were making asses of themselves. In the third period they would just scream rangers suck dick in their mid pubesent voices at the top of their lungs with kids all around...my friend turns around and says to shut up and the one scum bag starts challenging him to a fight. And the rest of the third he is saying..."we walk out at the same time"....and they were like saying they were gonna spit in my friends face. so after the game i have the glass bottle in my hand and made sure those scum bags saw it....so they left with thirty second left to avoid us....man they really give jersey fans a bad name....i hope they got a DUI...i am just really pissed off about that. sorry for ranting.

That's really too bad. You kind of expect a LITTLE hassling, maybe a FEW comments. I know Ranger fans complain about the "Rangers Suck" chant and although I don't go along with the chant myself I also tell them I can't whip up much sympathy for them...it's someone else's arena.

But what happened to your friend is ridiculous. Those kids think they are being fans but they are just being jerks. They are behaving like...Flyer fans. I'm sorry you and your friend had such a bad time.

Honestly, it might seem like a p  ssy move, but inform the usher about it. A ticket doesn't give you the right to harrass other people at the game. In other words, it gives you the right to call Messier a f  cking cueball 100 times a game, but not the guy two rows in front of you.

<JESTER>

Agreed... you go to a game for fun, not a problem!

I was at game 4 in Boston upstairs all alone in my Devils Jersey most of the BOston fans taunted me, but nothing really bad. Except this one fan who decided to tell me the Devils suck and i suck. I was able to laugh. Then at the end of the game the croud was yelling Yankees Suck, (yeah it's boston i joined in) yeah this one fan continued to yell at me. Well i got the last laugh. Wish i could of seen him when they won the Cup.

That's one reason I don't mind wearing my Devils gear to the Whatchimacallit Centre (Corel's lease is up on the name). Hockey fans are hockey fans are hockey fans. Never been hassled. Yeah, back in the first Devs-Sens series, whenever the Sens scored a goal (which happened a lot) I had those fan-towels waved in my face.... but little things like that don't bother people. Name calling by drunkards doesn't belong at a hockey game and they should be thrown out.

Though, from second hand accounts, I've heard some horror stories of ushers saying "well, you wore the opposition jersey to our home game - you deserve what you get." Good way to boost attendance.

Let me take that back about never being hassled at the Corel Centre - last game I WAS given sh!t by a group of guys. Leaf fans up from Toronto.

My worst experience at a Devils game was during the playoffs against Carolina in 2002. Behind me there was two jackass Devils fans who decided to make some very racist remarks about Kevin Weekes, it was so embarrassing. "N-----s don't belong in hockey, he should go back to the south and eat some cornbread", "that f'n n----- should get his ass off the ice, go play basketball or football and beat your wife" etc etc...the guys were obviously drunk, too. They were screaming these comments out too, chanting the N word and other racist things, it was sickening.

It got worse, too, they got really pissed off near the end of the game when the Devils couldn't bury any chances, after one instance the guy FREAKED out and started beating the CRAP out of my seat, kicking it, punching it, trying to rip it from the ground (with me in it, mind you)...he ended up BREAKING my seat! I was so pissed off, but at the same time scared to death because he was just so bitter and angry, thought he might unload on me. Ushers finally got a hold of the guy who broke my seat and I didn't see him since. Good thing. Really scary experience.

They werent even Devils fans...they just probablly got the seats for free...they didnt know sh!t about hockey or the Devils. They didnt really ruin my time...because we were able to laugh at them and got them scared at the end. the guys sitting next to us were pissed at them too. Those a$$holes were from Red Bank high school

What section were you sitting in and what gate did you leave at?

I'm only asking because I sit in 229 and leave at Gate C, and I enjoyed leaving the game as this Rangers fan was somewhat demoralized.

Here's how it went down:

Devils Fan chants 'Rangers Suck' at this rangers fan leaving the gate, and then the rangers fan goes, You're cheering a loss!, so then he was like, the Devils suck, they haven't beat the Rangers in the playoffs, so everybody right outside the gate, was like 'thats because they haven't made the playoffs you dick', then this devils fan just yells at the top of his lungs, 'Shut the hell up you fat fvck' or something like that, and I remember hearing a$$hole as well, it shut him up, because everybody started cursing off at him... I kind of enjoyed it.

Hey Stubbs.....thats bs what happened to your friend, Ranger fan or not. Anyways, I went to the 3-3 game at the garden this year with my parents and girlfriend, and I was wearing my Gomez jersey. When the Devils went up 3-2 and I stood up to cheer this ranger fan one section over screamed "hey gomez f*$%in die!" and tried to throw his beer at me (which ended up on the people next to me and the aisle). Point of the story is that no matter what building you go to there are always going to be jerkoffs.

The Boston story reminded me of one of my favorite away game moments. Game 3 vs Boston in Boston this year. Me and my friend are getting taunted something fierce the whole time (and we gave it right back that is how it goes and it is fine). Anyway, we won 3-0 as I am sure you all know and on the subway going back to Logan we were in the drunk Bruins fan car. So we get to the Logan stop we get off and I stand in front of the doors, take off my Devils jersey to reveal my Boston Sucks shirt underneath. Drunk moron throws his bottle of beer at me, but he was not fast enough and the bottle smashes against the now closed doors. The doors stay closed but the train does not move. We were in the first car and the driver heard the bottle smash and did not move the train. A Boston Cop (Subway cop maybe) comes and writes the guy a ticket. We briskly walk to the shuttle bus shortly there after. The look on that guys face before he threw the bottle and after it hit the doors was priceless.

I guess most of us have had similar experiences, or at least seen them happen at games. It makes me crazy. We once had some a$$hole Flyer fans make our then- 7 year old daughter cry~ she had on her Brodeur jersey and they just went on and on. Needless to say, my husband put an end to it quickly. Of course, he ended up in the bowels of the CAA in a security office and missed half of the game.

Of course a little banter here and there is part of the whole experience, but some individuals feel the need to take it to a new low. It's expecially bad when the Flyer and Ranger fans come into OUR building and exhibit their classless behavior. Ugh!

You guys are a bunch of candy-a$$e$. Bottom-line: you go to an arena to cheer for the visitors, you deserve whatever you get. Come to my section wearing a Devils/Flyers/Isles/whomever jersey, and I will be on you from the moment I see you. Unless of course you are a really hot chick.

I have gone to see the Rangers in the swamp, colisseum, philly, pittsburgh, and florida, have worn a mets hat into the RF bleachers at Yankee stadium, worn Giants stuff into the 700's in Philly, the Dawg Pound in Cleveland, and in Washington. I sit down, I shoot my mouth off the entire game. yes, I am THAT guy, the guy who pisses off the entire section, but amazingly I have never had to defend myslef from a physical attack. I'm also 6'2"-about 265-275 so people tend not to seek a physical confrontation. Ahh, the joys of being large.

That sucks!!!! When I went to the devils-buffalo game this year, them guys, probably around 25ish, were yappin' on about how Nieds is a pansy, because they thought it was Nieds that went down after a hit, but the frickin morons didn't see that the guys number wasn't even 27!! IT WAS MADDEN!! And they were so annoying!! I turned around and glared at them a couple times, but my Dad told me to ignore them.

its so stupid to overly taunt a fan of another team..i dunno..it can be funny at times, but its not nice to get mean about it!!

Ok, picking on a little girl is over the top. Even I think that is a dirtbag move. Those who are usually exempt from my taunting:

1) Hot chicks

2) Old people

3) Little kids (although I do not think kids belong at games, but that is another issue). Although there was a little wench at last night's rangers-flyers game. I told her and her ugly mother off as we were leaving. She was about 12-15, so she deserved what she got, just like ROENICK!!!!!!

4) pathetic looking guys, you know the ones, you look at them and say to yourself, "He doesnt have any friends, he got beat up every day of his life, and still didnt learn how to fight", those guys. I leave them alone.

Oh, you're one of THOSE people, the ones who think that being able to beat the living snot out of 95% of your challengers gives you the right to be a Grade-A dick. People like you are the scum of the earth. It's not surprising that you're a Rangers fan.

never said I could beat up anyone, nor have I ever wanted to beat up anyone at a game, other than a Rangers fan who said something to my brother who was on crutches at the time, but when I got in his face he apologized. Scum of the earth? I haven't received a compliment like that in a while, thank you!!!!

Jerry, handicapped is off limits, depending on the handicap of course!!!!!! Nah, I leave them alone, basically, I don't bother people who A) I do not think could handle it (a little girl) or B ) would be too scared to say something back to me or C) literally could not defend themselves.

I read somewhere that Flyers fans are the "rowdiest".

Do you guys agree???

I mean Rangers fans really aren't, they just try, and then get shutdown as soon as the word playoffs comes into the air...

Islanders fans are just pansies and I won't even get into it....

I mean I'm 16, and I love yelling Rangers suck, especially when the damn rangers fans are in the row below me..., but last year (2003), I was at a devils flyers game, and these flyers fans were behind me, and the Hackett chant started, you know the one, HHHHHHAAAAACCCCCKKKKEEEETTTTT!!!, so I start doing it and they nudge me a little, so I stood up, (I'm 5'9 150, not big but not tiny), to find these college kids, that pretended like they didn't do anything, I wasn't really afraid of them, being as they weren't drunk, nor did they look that intimidating, but sometimes flyers fans can be the worst, just like the flyers in the playoffs. :D
