o0o0o0o i didn't realize they'd blackout local games. I was hoping i could get center ice to catch devils games IF Slime Warner couldn't come to a deal.

Time Warner already overcharges for their cable, digital or otherwise. i'm not overly upset right now either- BUT if i have to pay extra for center ice this year i will not be happy when i should be able to watch all the games as PART of my basic cable package. I seem to remember them pulling a similar trick last summer though and the mets fans got so pissed that they backed down and made a deal. greedy bastids

i second Albs and Schwabbie and I'd totally vote for Freeze too but if he's immune, i can wait another week.

i'd definitely go for concerts and things like that at a Newark arena, esp if they were cheaper/offerred better seating than MSG. I *never* go to events at CAA since its such a hike for me to get to and events at MSG are usually prohibitively pricey (hey alliteration!) something that was a quick path hop away and cheaper/better than MSG or CAA would be worth the trip across the river.

from what i saw last night i think its a goal. i know, its a sh!tty way to decide a cup victory, but the rules are the rules and it was clearly over the line- at least from the angle ABC showed. The officiating has been more or less in tampa's favor the entire series so this i suppose, is no different. Of course, i'm not down on the ice calling the plays as they happen. Did they even review it upstairs? i don't recal seeing them stop the game to check with the officials in the booth. -emily

Good. it was a dirty hit, i'm glad they're giving him the suspension. the flames are generally playing dirty this series, i was pulling for them against san jose b/c i thought they had more heart, but this series is getting ugly. they remind me of the flyers at their worst lately. -emily

its only not trapping b/c espn says its not. and the flyers are a fine upstanding group of thugs^H^H^H^H^Hplayers b/c espn loves 'em. and that's all that matters. though i haven't heard them make any noise about "what an exciting and open game this will be" lately, unlike the stuff we were hearing before game 1. thought the remark, "this is the best a 1-0 game can get" was funny at the beginning of the 3rd period coverage. -emily

you guys are making me all weepy for devils hockey. and now i'm half-seriously considering a trip to tampa just to see a game (!), even if it isn't my boys, at least there's a team playing remarkably like 'em. -emily

well seeing as dRg already answered the other ones: unknown pleasures and closer were the two albums then still, substance, the box set (which is AWESOME) and permenant(permanance?) were some others though i think they were all released after the fact. they did a few peel sessions too from what i remember. pretty good for a band that didn't last nearly as long as they should have. there are a number of different rumors concerning exactly how he died including one where he tied a noose around his neck and then sat on a giant ice cube until it melted. I think he just hung himself though, no ice cube necessary. You get a glimpse of what he was like in the movie 24 hour party people including his strange robotic dancing. joy division listed the sex pistols as a major influence, and if you listen to their earlier work, you can definitely hear it, though they deviated from the punk rock path in their later songs. one of my most favorite bands ever. -emily

something about him tells me thats exactly the way he would be in a doc's office, even if he wasn't there *as* a doctor. He's made for hockey, i think the lab coat and stethescope would be adorable but he would be uncomfy and awkward in 'em the whole time. which would be even cuter. and the glasses don't do him any good, he still sounds goofy in interviews he can play doctor with me if he wants though... -emily (home from work today- can you tell?)
