The Devils can sign Stillman and it will toll for two years, ie the ELC doesnt start unless he is in the NHL for more than 9 games, or is out of junior eligibility.

They can't sign Hughes until he is ready to leave Michigan, it will terminate his NCAA eligibility the moment pen hits paper.

So what I read regarding college players that were drafted was as follows:

In general, the club retains his contract rights until Aug. 15 following the graduation of his college class as long as he remains in school.

If a college-drafted player leaves school early, the club holds his rights until June 1 four years after he was drafted.

For college players who were drafted at age 20, they are eligible to become a free agent after two years.

So I guess we don’t sign him until he’s done with college.

That’s correct in regard to Devils retaining his NHL rights, which is a separate topic from the NCAA rules.

Realistically it is in the Devils best interest to let him play 2 years of NCAA before bringing him pro.

Agreed, although I would say at least 2 and maybe a 3rd.

I know we’re getting to the point in the year when everyone in the league is in their hashtag-best-shape-of-their-life, but do yourself a favor and look at PK’s instagram. Dude was getting a little fluffy the last few years (obviously a relative term) but my god he looks chiseled out of marble right now. Can only assume that will help his stride speed, jump, and stamina — three things that I would argue were a little bit lacking from an otherwise productive player last season.

Relative term, I wish I was fluffy like PK was fluffy.

But the current picture, he looks so muscular it looks unnatural. But it's just his top half, hopefully he isn't skipping leg day lol.

I'd argue that PK's lack of success was rarely attributed to anything physical. His decision making has always been the problem. I wish he'd post pictures of him watching tapes and trying to learn not to make very very basic mistakes players know no to do in juniors.

I still can't believe how often he had the puck in the o-zone by the hashmarks right by the boards and fvcking flipped the puck across the blue line to the point on the other side where his partner obviously couldnt control the rebound well it created turnovers / breakaway. How an NHL veteran does this multiple times during the same season is truly beyond me

Right right right. I forgot the cool thing to do around here was blaming Nas for everything the players did wrong.

Damn you Nas for asking PK to make that play multiple times.

Remember that time Nas ordered the guys to leave Crosby alone in the slot.

I am on hold waiting for a court conference to start and you made me laugh out loud without my mic muted.

Oops!

Well the film room is a secured facility and while PK does have access to the room, he still hasn’t been given the code to remove the blurry filter from the monitors by his defensive coach, good ole nASS. I’m sure once that filter is off the screen, PK’s abilities will finally catch up.

Source: any time they’ve shown guys watching film, the screen is so freaking blurry you can’t even tell it’s hockey on the screen.

someone: “hey look PK is in great shape”

SD: *cracks knuckles*

Now to be fair you said you think him being in better shape could help his game. I pointed out that his struggles IMO were decision based and not physically driven. And that i wish he'd focus on being a smarter player. There's been a lot of old and slow but very very effective Dmen in the league. Not because they were a workhorse but because they were smart.

No matter what i said in the past about PK. I truly fail to see how that's not a fair statement / observation to make on a hockey board.

someone:

SD: hah yeah I agree we should literally all murder lou lmao

Now this is ridiculous. I don't just blindly hate Lou. If you'd pay attention i'm very consistent across the board and called out any GMs who pulled the same sort of crap he did. It's not like i just don't like him and convince myself that anything he does is bad, i use to really like Lou but the things he did that i didn't like became more and more problematic as it went on. ie. Colombus going full all in sending assets to get players at the deadline and not locking up their 2 top UFAs (who were some of the best player in the world at the time) when they were not even in the playoffs at the time and barely made it. And sure enough, they didn't win the cup and are now rebuilding a few years later.

Again, i fail how that'd be irrelevant in a hockey forum.

Also to anyone reading this going "ughh SD going on about Lou again". Well then stop fvcking poking me about it if you don't want to hear it. I'll engage every time.
