I was just about to post this. They’ve gotten plenty of help from other teams. Now, they need to do their part. As @Colorado Rockies 1976, we’ll know a lot about the Devils’ playoff chances by the end of the Penguins game on April 2. 1 minute ago, Colorado Rockies 1976 said: Flyers about to lose ANOTHER goal, this time to offsides, heh heh. Colorado Rockies 1976
Caps now losing 5-1. Flyers about to go on another power play. They’ve been turning it up a notch. Canadiens only have 12 SOG for the game but still up by two.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Canadiens barely survive that penalty kill. Flyers really taking it to them this period, but just not finding the net. This time a disallowed goal for the Canadiens (high stick). All three disallowed goals have been legit. Can only ask for so much help. At least the Devils still have a game against them, though not until the final game of the year. Montreal with an empty-netter to make it 3-0. Have no idea how the Flyers didn’t score…they owned much of that third period. Edited March 29 by Colorado Rockies 1976
Colorado Rockies 1976
Caps lose. Flyers and Red Wings about to lose. Seriously Devils, how much more fvcking help do you WANT?! Flyers finally score but down two with 1:01 to go. Edited March 29 by Colorado Rockies 1976

If the Flyers somehow play their way out of a playoff spot—unlikely but not impossible given how much they’ve already overachieved—does Torts get fired? If so, is he on Fitz’s list of candidates? He did a hell of a job just to keep them in it this long.
NJDfan1711
Really can't ask for anything else - the three teams ahead of you all lost. Too bad the Isles won and leap is temporarily, but if any team had to win, we wanted it to be them. Devils need to bring their A game tomorrow, and with a win, things could get extremely interesting, being only 4 points out.

They got some help tonight but they still need so much more. Montreal beating the Flyers was a serious break for the Devils. Gotta taking fvcking advantage already.

They face the Bruins tomorrow night…hopefully that matchup goes as “expected.” If the Devils win tonight, they’ll be four points behind the Flyers with the same number of games played. Considering how this season has gone, that’s about as much as I ever could’ve hoped for.
nmigliore
I still think the Flyers will be difficult to catch, their remaining schedule is just SO soft: Blackhawks, Islanders, Sabres, Blue Jackets, Canadiens and Capitals in their 6 of their last 8 games.

FWIW, the Devils still have a game against the Flyers (Game 81)...hopefully it's both meaningful AND doesn't turn into a three-pointer. And the Flyers already just lost a "soft" game against the Canadiens. They also lost 5-2 to the Caps earlier this month. One thing I've definitely learned from trying to predict based on strength of schedule for MANY sports through the years is that it definitely doesn't always work out as expected. The Flyers are also just 11-14-4 over their last 29 games, and haven't won so much as two in a row over their last 20 (7-9-4). If there's a team that looks like it can absolutely spit the bit against what should be an "easier" part of the schedule, it's them. Doesn't help their cause that Ersson (who's handling much of their goaltending) has an .880 save% since 1/20 (24 GP). Of course, the question is can the Devils actually get THEIR sh!t together enough to be able to take advantage if the Flyers continue to be so meh? We find out starting tonight. NJDfan1711
I really think games 81 and 82 both might be incredibly meaningful, with potentially three teams getting in or getting eliminated from those outcomes.

The potential for those games to mean a ton is absolutely there, no doubt. BTW the Flyers finish up against the Devils and Caps, the Devils finish up against the Flyers and Islanders, the Caps finish up against the Bruins and Flyers, and the Islanders finish up against the Devils and Pens. So much can be on the line for ALL of those teams.
ButlerBulldog
The Wild wanted to maximize their chances of getting two points. Instead, they got none.
NJDfan1711
Naturally, the Wings lose today (in OT), and Flyers already losing to the crappy Blackhawks. Watch the Sabres, Caps and Isles lose too, when it didn't matter for us anymore.
