thefiestygoat Posted October 7, 2007 Share Posted October 7, 2007 Awesome win tonight. Great game by Weekes, he is a real solid back up. Madden played nicely as did his linemate Asham, kudos to him for sticking up for Pandolfo. Clarkson was all over the ice, assisting on a goal after going full force into the endboards to get the puck to Madden for a goal, and he really got under the Panthers skin. Overall the forwards looked real good tonight. The defense was really shaky in the first. I thought Mottau and Greene each had a great game, both scoring goals and playing solid defensively. Oduya didn't look to strong early on but he settled down later on. Overall I can see someone sitting out for Matvichuk or Brookbank next game. Without him, this well might been a loss, and yes EVEN with Marty in.. that Florida offense was rollin' to start this game off on the PP. - Mottau is just awesome.. I said after the first period he still looks like one of our best defenseman so far and he now gets a goal on a nice shot, alot like Greene's first NHL goal.. - Speaking of Greene.. Wow what a game.. made some great defensive plays and that keep on the blue line which ended up resulting in a goal by him was terrific! - Elias wasn't all that great but definitely had alot of hustle in his game, got himself an assist (on a wide shot lol).. but decent job - Clarkson is great, honestly.. Not only with pressuring Vokoun but drawing that penalty on Allen; no retaliation at all besides a chuckle when Allen was going to the box, which is quite acceptable of course - Asham/Madden/Pando line looked great, especially offensively.. Asham is gonna bring alot more offense than Brylin did on this line.. Beautiful pass he made to Mad-dog for the 1st goal. - Oduya looked better.. Martin was decent as well. Cons: - We need better defense.. yes it did improve towards the later parts of the game but we're not gonna dodge all the bullets this year, and we the defense really got some lucky bounces and breaks at times, of course Weekes with the big saves - Zubrus.. really isn't doing much out there.. I loved when he took the puck around the goal and pushed off that defender with 1 hand lol but he needs to step up more.. hes got a wicked wrist shot, lets see it! - Rachunek has proven nothing so far.. hes constantly beat on defense and he looks very shaky on offense. - Penalties.. just can't take them, or at least not when your already on the PK.. If it wasn't for those penalties on us "Weeksies" might've gotten a shutout.
