Inside the NHL Mascot Summit

I still feel guilty about linking my NSFW Deadspin column here. To make up for that, here's some good wholesome family fun at the expense of the NHL's mascots:

As the unofficial keeper of mascots far and wide 'round these parts, I wholeheartedly endorse this post. :thumbsup:

Why don't the Rangers have a mascot?

<JESTER>

Sure they do. His name is Stan Fischler. :boogie:

The Ducks goalie is so cool, it reminds me of that old disney cartoon. (which did NOT suck)

Sparky the Dragon, Islanders: Will you guys knock it off and let the guy take the picture? I'm due at the Medieval Times in Lawrenceville by 5:30 so I can get lanced by the Green Knight. When your team's drawing 9,000 fans a night, I have to take any gig I can get.

^Ouch.

I did notice that Bailey...the L.A. Kings Lion is missing from that list. I believe this is because he was added in the last 2-3 years. I seem to remember some sort of white-lion before him though....

Also interesting that certain teams refrain from having a mascot. I wonder who makes this decision, and why you wouldn't have something to both help promote the team outside of the rink(community events) and reach the younger fans? Other than tradition....

1.) Rangers

2.) Dallas Stars

3.) Detroit kind of has the Octopus, but nothing "official" I believe

4.) PHI Flyers

hmmm.anybody else
