CMaGee
Don't pull him! Let him take his lumps. Let him be a bit embarassed. He'll be back in a vengence for game 4. Although I haven't completly given up hope yet.
SC Devs Fan
Is Gomez playing, I know he is. Like Elias taking up ice space. Anyone ready to trade them yet? Screw trading them. Bench them. Did wonders for Gomez at the trade deadline.
Weekes Head
I would pull Marty, yes. The first period was just too shaky, I wouldn't take the chance. However, he CAN redeem himself in the second, so...it could go either way.
westcoastdevfan
This game is awful. No jump, no fire, no spirit, no captain, no scoring, no defense, no goaltending, no smiling, no way the Devils come back to win. After Stevens went down the Devils heads went down and the Tampa goals went in. All teams lose but why do our loses have to be soo embarrasing. Let's hope the Devils can chip away at the lead and we can tie this game up. It's far from over but there is a long way to go to make this game winnable. We need Stevens back. His inspiration might ignite a rally. I am really down but I'll stay positive until after the 2nd period. I hope it's 3-2 then. The Devils must stay out of the box. no more penalties. devilsrule33
This game is not over yet. They scored three goals in a period. We can too. I am not writing this team off in this game yet. You guys can if you want.
smelly
Hope Stevens didn't break anything -- an orbital or a cheek bobe fracture may very well put him out for the playoffs. Hope that's not the case. Also, no on really responded when I mentioned this the other day, but ever since TB has abandoned the 1-2-2 for an agressive forecheck, the Devs have had trouble getting the puck out of their own end. Yes, I know that there are extenuating circumstances that explain a lot of the Devs' play (revved crowd, stoke TB, Stevens goes down), but this is not a new development. No matter how good the Devils are defensively, and no matter how awesom Marty might be, they can't play two-thirds of the game in their own end and expect success. Finally, Friesen has to lose the moustache -- he looks like a porn star.
CMaGee
Gotta stay positive as long as it's possible, which it is. We'll see who's wearing the Captain's "C" next period. Hopefully it's #4.
njdevils783
Well its kind of hard to have any faith in this team after the miserable disgusting atrocious display of hockey that went on in the 1st.... Any word on the stevens injury?
GetReal
If you keep benching Gomez and start benching Elias their worth goes down in a trade. beside the Devils don't have anyone else to take the spot that would do any better.
smelly
And even if they lose, the Devs have to send a message that TB will NOT be allowed to skate around as freely as they did in the first. Even if they don't score, I expect some physicality here on out.
NJDevs4978
If you keep benching Gomez and start benching Elias their worth goes down in a trade. Well maybe if you bench one of both it'll wake their a$$es up and you won't have to trade them. I would be shocked if Elias didn't ride the pine with the team down 3-0 unless the Devils get back into the game ASAP.
drummerpuck
Is Gomez playing, I know he is. Like Elias taking up ice space. Anyone ready to trade them yet? maybe i'm playing favorites, but i am seeing gomez playing. he is working hard at the boards, its hard to shine in the offensive end when you are playing the entire game in your own in. i am only seeing elias take up space and penalties. it seems like some of you guys are spoiled. you see a game like this and want to turn it off. while this is only the 4th game i have ssen all season and i still have some faith. it make not turn out in this game, but we will see what we all expect, force youselves to watch if you have to, its the devils, its the playoffs, and i'm putting it all in. njdevils783
Dont see how shortening the bench in the 2nd is gonna help the team.
drummerpuck
did they just announce will not return on stevens, my phone rang?
GetReal
Stevens must have gone to a local hospital. It's not to the Devils advantage to not report injury to fans. TB doesn't care they don't want Stevens to come back ever during this series. So I think hospital and report will be after the game if not tomorrow. SC Devs Fan
Levy is so full of crap it hurts. I used to sew people up for a living (really) and one of the most difficult things to repair is the ear - it takes a ton of time to do and is very (technically) difficult and time consuming to do a good job. If it is his ear I would not expect him back tonight and should miss a couple of games... but knowing the monster he is, he'll be back without missing the next game. I can't believe the announcers think there is more to this than just a 'cut' because he isn't coming back.
Zamode
There is nothing wrong with not having a sweep. I do believe Marty will rebound--whether or not it is this game (with half of the 2nd almost gone, looks unlikely with their play) or the next. He won't stink that badly next game. Tivo, White and Nieds are not helping.
CMaGee
But remember SC, it is 3-0. Is it worth it to bring him back for that?

CMaGee
Can't write off this team, they're too good. I like what I see. From the offense, and Marty.
