CRASHER
And don't forget a coach who's crazy enough to pull the goalie 2-3 times a game... it would be a great way to work a young backup into some playing time

aylbert
Too bad the archives here only go back to 2004, because I distinctly remember the same type of comments about the Devils hiring Pat Burns. Fired twice before, a fossil, etc. With all due respect to Pat Burns, he would of been fired in 04-05 if nothing changed (no strike, no 'new' NHL)... and I believe he would struggle coaching in the 'new' NHL and be fired... We would view Burns as we do Lemaire... a great Cup winning coach who the game left behind... Unfortunately, and truly unfortunately, we don't have the privilege of saying that due to the sad circumstances Burnsy's been facing and fighting. Scott Stevens #4
Maclean or this Chicago asistant coach that everybody is so hyped on and believes he and Johnny mac deserves a chance at a coaching spot in the NHL with Devils will probally and most likely keep the same system that got us knocked out and schooled the last couple of years.Im not big on Mike Keenan as our head coach but the guy teach ,preach and breath toughness and hardly let's the teams he coach get pushed around so id take him over those 2 for right now.Unless tortarella becomes available or the guy i truly want and think would be a good coach for us and that is Pat Quinn
Pepperkorn
I really feel like he just put this put there to attempt to scare away Kovalchuk I never think anyone is seriously interested in coming to NJ - that the entire league is in league () to screw over Lou any way they can. There were some games that the devils put in Dunham for a minute here and minute there just to meet it, and not give him any real playing time. Don't be so quick to judge. Devils1985
This would be a ‘no’. Unless they want to set a record for ‘fastest fired coach’.
Exit56
I'll take Joel Quenville when Chicago fires him for not winning the cup this year, please

That was different That was sticking a goalie in net to get him an "appearance" in a blowout game This is using changing goalies as an extra time out, or to adhere to Keenan's crazy random moods.... if I remember right Keenan pulled Richter some 18 times during the 93-94 season
mikeford
You beat me to it... Was going to make the same post, substituting "msweet" for "JohnnyP" of course. Pretty sure I'd rather have you coaching than Keenan.

SatansDevils
No thank you to Keenan. Just had a same type of coach in Lemaire that the players just did not listen too. Still think lou should go OUTSIDE the organization for a new coach like Haviland, Carbonneau or Boucher. Getting Hitchcock is getting another defensive minded coach that will play the trap every game. Devils need an offensive minded coach along with the defensive minded. DevsMan84
I'd say we should get Gordon Bombay instead. I think he just finished playing for the Waves since his knee injury.
Scott Stevens #4
Good luck to who ever our next coach is or who is even considering the job which is probally John Maclean at the momment who is the most interested or showing interest and consideration for th job, giving that we had 2 consective coaches just quit one saying retirement then "signing" with another NHL franchise, then the other retiring, "for now" atleast, our candidates for the job are probally limited at this time
Devils1985
I don’t think candidates are limited; it’s not the Raiders after all.
