GDT: Game 3, Devils vs. Senators (Series Tied 1-1)

Note to Gomez: Pass the fvcking puck. 1 OT goal doesn't mean you're going to score every time you get the puck in the zone, let alone hit the net 1 out of 5. Gio is the goal scorer here, your job is to set him up.

The boys will come out with their backs up against the wall Wednesday, that's when the Devils play their best hockey. If we can get a repeat performance from Marty and get some good down low shots on the shaky Sugar Ray, we'll get home ice advantage back for a best of 3 series.

Really dont need anymore proof for who the league wants to win this series, what an absolute joke.

I have been saying this since the Tampa series watching the crap they were getting away with all the mugging of Parise all the runs of our Dmen most of which were illegal hits. Now this series, even worse more glaring. I am not saying the Sens are not a great team because obviously they are, but they shouldnt need extra help from the officiating to win. They have clearly gotten the calls (or lack of) in this series. The runs by Neil and Fisher have been pathetic. I love hard hitting but not from behind. Gio getting just about taken off his feet several times, as well as Parise. then you see that crap last night with Fisher being able to "bump" Marty and no call? Pathetic. It is clear the Devils will have to fight the officiating as well as the Sens to win this series.

I will say this though the Devils have played inconsistantly. ONe period on fire the next no energy. But the EGG line needs to really be told TO SHOOT THEPUCK and not try to make the perfect plays. And as far as Elias goes, I love the guy but it is obvious he isnt healthy or something is wrong. He certainly isnt playing the way a 42 million top line winger and Captain should be playing. My guess is he isnt 100%

Looking like Carolina all over again out there tonight. It's not about effort - it's about the fact that the Devils quite simply cannot play dump and chase hockey - they have no way of keeping pucks in the zone. They have to carry it in, Ottawa stands up at the blueline, we get a ton of perimeter shots - gg.

Marty stole this one for us and we couldn't capitalize.

Being a goalie against the Devils has to be pretty easy - you know you won't get bumped or jostled or anything. Can just relax in the crease and know no one's crashing the net or running into you - someone might be screening, but he's not gonna touch you.

Elias is not 100%. He needs to get well soon and recover his strength, otherwise we are in serious trouble.

It's no surprise that the Devils finally got shut out - they're not a 3 goals a game offense and weren't all year. This game was coming - it's just a good thing it was Game 3 and not Game 4. I can't say I'm confident about Game 4, though. I'd also like to see Janssen out there but somehow I doubt it.

Janssen?? Who is that?? We have been calling for him since game 2 of the tampa series. My god with the performance we saw tonight how much could it hurt to throw him out there and let him HIT some body anybody it is so sad to watch Elias and Gio get their heads handed to them on the same shift , and not one retaliatory hit against any of their big guns. I mean the only thing that was close was Whitey's hit late inthe game. Against nobody important. Our physical play is gone, without Cam out there to at least give the impression we might be physical we are in for a pounding physically on Wed too. (doesnt mean we will lose) but we will get pounded.

Stop the whining about the Refs, it makes you sound like a Rag fan. Questionable calls have been made in the past and will be made in the future. Yes they missed the interference call on Marty, but we were lucky the previous goal they scored was disallowed. Bottom line is we got outplayed and deserved the loss. If you do not score, you have no chance of winning the game, not even with Marty in the net. Emery looked shaky, but we could not put any pressure on him and ever seriously test him. Even with a few minutes left in the game and down one goal, the Sens were nailing us in our own zone instead of us being in all out attack mode. To blame the refs for the loss is just a lame excuse.

As if playing Janssen 2:04 (Rupp's icetime last night) is really going to make a difference?

Clarkson > Janssen anyway.

Is that right really wow I have been enlightened I just found out if you dont score you have no chance of winning. Tell me oh sage does that mean if Ottawa doesnt score they dont win either?? Well then the REFS hurt the Devils in this game so as far as whining goes I have said it before and I will say it again for your benefit. I dont say the refs were the only ones that cost us the game, it is obvious we didnt play our best, and that Ottawa is very talented, but when you are in a dog fight and every bounce is important a few key calls or no calls make or break a series. If this game is 5 - 0 nobody says anything about the non call on the goal, but come on man you cant tell me the Refs have called it consistently !!

Very simple... whining and complaining much like winning is a MINDSET

you can either sit there and whine and complain about the things you can control and put a PRE-DESTINED EXCUSE in your mind that "it's ok to lose, because it's not our fault... because the refs, league... the damn bird that sits on the ice sometimes are against us and our personal effort is not enough to succeed"

And the minute you accept that garbage level of mindset YOU HAVE ALREADY LOST!!!!

Not like they didn't have 3/4 of a period to SCORE as well :P

Why would you want Gomez to pass more? I'm not sure if he made one pass that didn't end up with OTT having control.

Yes I know all about mindests, and I have never said the Devils should blame the refs. And to be honest whether a fan blames bad calls or no calls or whatever is irrelevant. I am quite sure listening to Lou after the game last night that the team will not look at it as the fans do. It is a fans right to have opinions thats why we are fans. And my opinion as well as others here is that the refs have done a horrible job this series and the Tampa series for that matter. I have also said that I dont care if you call 50 penalties or no penalties JUST CALL THEM CONSISTANTLY BOTH WAYS. And we have not seen that at all. So all that being said the refs did play a part in last nights game especially in a 0 - 0 game in the 3rd period. And if I want to express my opinion that the refs also have done a piss poor job that it is also my right. And even though I do think they have done a bad job I also realize the Devils have to step up and play a much more intense game to have a chance!!

NEWSFLASH!

Gomez and the Devils pass the puck all way too much! :argh: They need to shoot the puck and put more shots on Emery and the net! When that happens the Devils win. Therefore this is why Game 3 was lost besides the blown goaltender interference call by the refs.

I do agree the Devils will come out and play their best hockey in game 4 to even up the series going back home 2-2. Home ice will be back in the best of 3 just like the TB series.

Time to scratch Rasmussen and put in Clarkson for more offense and taking it to the body of Ottawa. Either Rasmussen or Rupp.

Rupp Dowd Clarkson

or

Rasmussen Dowd Clarkson

Nope... need to play Rass more. He can actually skate well enough to hit... see what he does in his few minutes out there? 5 guys get hit hard.

Yea I'd like to see Rass more as well. If the top line isn't getting much, it culd be a good idea to throw him out there to get the juice going a little bit.

Because Gio actually hits the net, not the glass behind the net.

Hahahaha, I love seeing the Devils lose. And who is the clown saying that the NHL does not want Jersey to win the series. Lou Lamoriello, gets EVERYTHING his way. NJ has had all the breaks to date in the series. Quit sniping on Fisher interfering with Brodeur. He always plays at the top or outside his crease and got what he deserved. You wouldn't be saying anything is overrated Madden clipped Emery and NJ scored, so fack off.

WTF, Richard Matvichuk (LTI), Lou gets cap relief, yet he is magically ready to go for the playoffs. Now that is a big fvcking joke.

Devils got what they deserved tonight, no offense. Gomez is a greedy little hockey player. Sens will win handily on Weds, no way Brodeur puts up a repeat performance, and the Sens will be coming even harder.

Okay boys, just a little sensitive there, but I can understand that after a loss, I would feel the same way. I did not slander Jersey, other that my comment on Lamoriello. The entire NHL shares the same sentiment, so it's not a huge suprise. And yes, give credit to the man for exposing weaknesses to the CBA and using them to his advantage.

I am not a Philly fan, I am an Ottawa fan. Even if Ottawa gets up 3-1, NJ has a good enough goaltender to give them fight until the very end. I respect the NJD a lot, but most notably Mr. Brodeur.

Note to PaDevsFan,

You complain about the officiating, but how about those gift power plays the Devils got in the third period? Didn't hear you say anything about that.

Jerry I wish you would give the anti devils crap a break. You seem to be so against them with your bull. PLease tell me what gifts in the 3rd did the Devils get?? The elbowing penalty that left Luko dazed, or the High stick that was so obvious that it almost was a 4 minute penalty?? Those were the only 2 and I dont see any gifts there??? So stop trying to sound like Bryan Murray after game 2 okay??

High stick was a penalty, I stand corrected there.

It seems Pa that many Devils fans have been against their own team here since the playoffs began. :doh1:

The Devils were the second best team in the EC (had a chance at one time to be #1) and had 107 pts. They didn't get there by luck. Devils earned what they got and some here are not giving this Devils team any credit in the playoffs. This team is a different team than the SCC teams and they have their own special team and season that is going on here.

I agree with Pa here on what he is saying. Devils got screwed in Game 3 and they were legit penalties in the 3rd period. Unfortunately the refs missed a BIG one in the 3rd period. It hopefully won't matter as the Devils will come out and play their game for Game 4 and tie this series up and go onto winning this series. This Devils team has gone thru a lot this season and they are not going to go out the way some are thinking here in these playoffs. Have a little positive and confident attitude towards the Devils. Man.

I hate when our fans think that the officiating is biased. But every fan base has its fans with idiotic conspiracy theories.

"Our fans" Which team are you a fan of?? So you arent going to address your lame comments about the "gifts" the Devils got in the 3rd?? And yes Satans I wont evn go so far as to say they missed a penalty on that interference, but as the league official said it very well could have been disallowed by rule!! the fact is Marty had 1 foot in the crease, and if both were in it SHOULD HAVE been disallowed, but I guess because he only had 1 it was a "gray area"

This team deserves lots of credit for their resiliency and what they've accomplished so far.

But it's typical of some people to put the Devils in a vacuum, like there wasn't another team out there who played better last night. It feels better to blame the refs, I guess. :noclue:

Ottawa fans complaining abouth the half second it took for the clock to start in game 2 is delusional.

Devils fans complaining about an obvious interference call in a 0-0 game DIRECTLY resulting in a goal is a legitimate complaint.

Sure we had 13 minutes after that to score, and Ottawa clamped down. If we had gotten the first goal we would have clamped down also. That non call decided the outcome.

Jerry are you a Devils fan?

What game were you watching last night?

Blaming the refs? They blew a bad call and they knew it. We even have some respectful sens fans here knew that it was a penalty and the refs blew the call. It costed the Devils the game. It was very OBVIOUS that it was a penalty and by rule 69 the goal should have been disallowed. If you are a Devils fan you know well enough if it was some other team that goal would have been disallowed. I guess you missed that part of the 3rd period Jerry. :doh1::noclue:
