  1. None. I never said anything about the UFA market. I mentioned that the team could go back to the three 'A' system they've used in the past when there was no Captain appointed. I'd rather have that in place than putting the 'C' on a guy who is going to act the way Langenbrunner has. I just hope that somewhere down the road there is a player in the Devils future who can at least come close to the fire, intensity, and strive for greatness that the organization relied on for so many years with Stevens.
  2. I don't know if moving Langenbrunner is the best option for the team... but that really depends on who the potential return would be. I've been disgusted by his leadership over the past year or two - his bitchy little attitude is ludicrous and you can tell the rest of the team doesn't exactly respond well to it either. If he isn't moved in the off-season, I am all in favor of removing the 'C'. Hell, go back to the three 'A' system because I honestly can't think of anyone on the current roster who could really captain this team as it is. It just seems that some players cannot handle the letter on the jersey and that seems to be much more obvious in New Jersey. One of the glaring issues this team has faced since 2004 is that no one has been able to handle the captaincy since Stevens retired. I would hate to put this burden on Parise's shoulders with him being a potential UFA soon. The Devils are in desperate need of a natural-born leader who can control the locker room and who will do whatever it takes to win, not whine and bitch about having to take a 65-minute flight to Carolina but not play.
  3. Sounds like you would be pretty interested in one of these: http://line6.com/backtrack/seeitwork.html The link gives you pretty much all the info you need on it, but from personal experience you can record a riff or whatever you'd like, play it back (it connects to your amp), and still be able to play along or over it since your guitar stays "live" during the playback -- which is even cooler than it sounds. It makes it very easy to record rhythm and lead parts by yourself. If you're in a band (which I'm assuming you are...) your drummer will have an easy time recording drum tracks too as you can playback your riff through your amp and let him wear the headphones listening to it while he plays. My girlfriend picked up one of these for me at Christmastime and I've been in love with it ever since. I've seen them on Amazon for as cheap as $30.00 but somehow they're being sold for around $100.00 at the same time. Don't overpay for one. I hope this helps. Rock on!
  4. Right on. I mentioned that in another thread yesterday. Once that malfunction gets taken care of, the answer up front seems kind of simple to me... bring the kids back. Look at it. The first half of the season the Devils roster was filled with a bunch of eager rookies that brought a ton of energy and passion, and helped lift the older guys on the team. Halischuk was great. Sestito played a hungry game. Pelley brings a lift to the team. Zharkov continues to play well and once he finds the back of the net he'll be a force. Everyone thought that once the Devils were "healthy" again, they would be unstoppable. Well, look what happened. The slugs made their way back into the lineup (Exception: Clarkson) and it all went to hell. I agree with the feeling that guys like Pandolfo and Niedermayer need to go and this will open up spots for the kids. Rolston -- I don't know. He's lackluster during the season but he seems to always bring it in the playoffs. Even last year he had a strong series. That might make him worth keeping around. Next year I really hope to see more of the youth movement. Their time has definitely come.
  5. I don't want to become the next Mr. Depressey Pants around here, but after the performance in Game 2, I truly believe this team has all but rolled over and died. The problem is, Philly figured us out. Quick. Anyone who has followed the team for even a few games over the last few seasons knows that the Devils have had a raging case of getthepuckoutofthezone-itis, and it's reached the terminal stage now. The Flyers are obviously aware of this as their forecheck has been incredibly aggressive all series long -- and it's worked. The Devils D has been crapping their bucket pants every time they pick up the puck deep in their own zone. It's disgusting. Offensively, the upper hand seems to be with New Jersey. But, that doesn't mean diddly if you can't play sound in your own end. Sigh.
  6. SHAVE!!! Trust me, I've got enough beard for the both of us right now
  7. Hey, aside from it not going to OT (and Kovi's empty-netter) I was right-on. It's the beard!!!!
  8. I'm feeling a little ballsy today so I'll make a prediction... Devils take this one in OT. 4-3 Final, Zubrus nets the winner. Glad that's out of my system. ...How are everyone's beards?!

    Devils VS Flyers

Right here. Like many have already stated, this is the ONE match-up I was hoping to avoid. It's not that I don't believe the Devils will beat them, it's the mental aspect of the regular season series. Deny it all you want, but you know it will be in the back of every Devils mind during the series. The X-factor will be the Devils efficacy on the PP -- Remember, the Flyers lead the NHL in PIMs and I don't see them becoming any more disciplined in the playoffs. However, the fact that the Devils have been making bad teams actually LOOK like bad teams in the last week or so is a little comforting. They're going to have to make Boucher eat it HARD in Game 1 to grab momentum. I am fully expecting a Game 7 in this one -- and I have no idea who would skate away with that one.
  10. I've felt something has been up with Jamie for at least a week now. I can't help but revert back to this quote (courtesy of TG's blog) from Langenbrunner after the "quickie" practice before the Gold Circle luncheon: Take it for what you will, but to me that seemed like a backhand at Lemaire. Maybe something IS up between Coach and Captain.
  11. Sweet merciful Christ the Versus HD picture is atrocious.
  12. Best birthday present ever!!!!!!!!!
  13. Pikkarainen will take his spot as per TG.
  14. Wow. You had to have been sitting literally RIGHT behind me. Even standing in the same spot as me for the warmup. Great minds think alike
  15. You're the best. Thanks much, Happy New Year!
  16. Thanks! I'm only getting the rainbow picture right now, do you know when the stream should start?
  17. Any chance this game is being streamed online tonight?
  18. Making the trek in the sh!tty weather for this one. It would be nice to see a win against the Wings for once!
  19. Wow. I can't imagine what it must have felt like inside that arena last night. That was one of the best tributes - to both fans and players - that I've ever seen.
  20. TG said he was walking around on his own after the game, but wearing a brace. I wonder if this is a good or bad sign.
  21. Game 2 ALCS >>>>>>>>> Devils hockey in OCTOBER.
  22. Strangely enough, it's always a good game when the Devils play Florida. That being said... GO DEVILS!!
  23. Personally, I would like to see just the opposite. This has always been a hot-topic with me during hockey debates. I believe that kick-ins should stand as good goals. I mean, you can kick a pass to a teammate, right?! Hey, if nothing else, scoring would probably go up in the NHL -- isn't that what Gary has wanted all along? I do agree that the gray-area is complete crap and it really needs to be done away with. I for one would like to see at least one season where kick-ins are legit. *** To be honest, when I saw the threat title, I immediately thought of those spray-goals during shootouts that seems to happen quite a bit. I think that is seriously lame and should definitely be banned.
