In fairness, no one has any idea if Walsh over Severson makes the Devils better. Walsh has all of one game of NHL experience under his belt…and he’s going to be 24 this season, which isn’t a great sign…he hasn’t made enough of an impression here and hasn’t gotten anyone to consider dealing for him to give him a shot. It’s fine to be frustrated with Seves because I’ve been for several seasons, but I can’t assume that a guy who looks like an AHL lifer in Walsh is any kind of solution. Agree, I’m honestly not sure why people always mention Walsh as if he is going to come up, I’m not sure he will. I’m not even sure he is the first or second guy in Utica I would consider. Sure but at third pairing, all you need is a warm body who can give you 14 minutes of sheltered ice time who doesn’t make ridiculously bonehead decisions. My point is finding a replacement for Severson isn’t something that needs galaxy-brain thinking. I can only assume that Walsh, or any player, isn’t as dumb on the ice as Severson. I haven’t seen much of anything re: his play so I have no idea if he’s truly ready or if the Devils feel like it’s time for him to get a look.
