ringtwins
I know there are those out there who don't like or want him, but I'll take a 6'3" 212 lb. center right now, and he and Elias played great together. Dopita was put on waivers by the Oilers yesterday, we could pick him up for free. Thoughts?
SueNJ97
Dopita has never adjusted to the NHL and I doubt he ever will. I'd rather just put Berglund in the line-up and keep him there than waste a roster space on this guy.
sundstrom
if we claim dopita, who get's bumped from playing center? gomez? does that really accomplish anything? he's not cheap either.
Triumph
Might be an interesting pickup.. I don't think I've ever seen Dopita, but I get the impression that this time in the NHL is just his big payoff.. he, like Hlavac, resisted coming to the NHL and had his rights traded several times.. I don't think that's a good kind of player to have. He might get you somewhere in the regular season, but in the playoffs, forget it. Lou might do what he did with Val Kamensky last year.. pick him up, see if he works..but I doubt it.
devspage
Hmmm, that is an intriguing possibility. I think his rep is that of a bit of a headcase. But if he's on waivers, it might be a good op. He's one of those guys that I've always expected more from than he's produced. Maybe it was the sit-u-a-tion. SBT
Forget Dopita, people. He won't help the Devils.
Pepperkorn
Would he be better than Guolla? Remember you all, I wanted Albelin out before you all did...
devilsrule33
No you didn't. I hate him.
devspage
Yep, PK's got the right end of the hockey stick. He would be considerably better than Guolla. (Sorry Stevie, I like ya, but we got enough fourth-liners).
coldply123
Dopita is nothing, he has shown nothing so far. We dont need another healthy scratch making our everyday game lineup. We have enough of those in Guolla, McKenzie, and Pandolfo
devspage
I think Dopita's a little better than all three of those guys. And a couple more we have. I understand that he hasn't proven anything. That's why it would be a gamble. But we're nothing if not gamblers...
NJayDevil
omg pick him up!!! I WANT HIM!!! He is a big center we need!
SBT
Ok, here's the scoop on Dopey. He turns 34 in a couple weeks. So he's old. Buffalo chose him in 1992 entry draft. He chose to stay in Europe. Islanders chose him in 1998. He still chose to stay in Europe. Finally, the Flyers drag him to North America for 52 games last season. He had 8 PIM in 52 games. For a big center, he sure plays small. Now, the Oilers want to dump him. Does he really want to play in the NHL? If you want to see some big centers that are good, tune in tonight to ESPN2 around 8 pm.
insanity_gallops
Right on, SBT. Gionta is more of a physical threat to opposing players than Dopita is. If he actually used his size to his advantage he'd be a decent 2nd line player at present. If Lou grabs him, I don't expect him to stay for long -- then again, I really don't expect Lou to grab him immediately off of waivers. Triumph
You forgot the Panthers, SBT, who thought they convinced him to come over to North America TWICE, but he refused. The guy doesn't want to play in the NHL and he doesn't use his size the way we'd want him to. Still, he has the potential to be another Viktor Kozlov.. but obviously time with him is VERY short.. He's not better than Guolla, Albelin, or McKenzie. He'd need ice time to develop an NHL game. Neither of those three needs that.
MantaRay
I can't help but think Dopita would have better chemistry with Elias than Gomez & Friesen seem to have. It can' t hurt to give him a tryout, especially with Pando & Guolla out.
Derek21
My Oilers pal hates him. He must really suck and he told me he's the biggest wuss he's ever seen. Just Say No!
NJayDevil
He's better than Guolla and DEFINITELY worth a try, since he did great with Elias during the Olympics.
Sarge18
The question is njay. Did Elias and Sykora make Dopita look good, or was it the other way around... Think about it.

The only answer is to pick him up and experiment with him. Ain't going to hurt the team.
