FightCommies77
Nobody can disagree, Nieds did a lot for The Devils. The question is, will the #27 be hanging next to #3 and #4? Messier was retired by Edmonton as well as the Robber Barons across the Hudson. I would love to see a tribute to him in that way.

thelastonealive
#27 might hang from the rafters one day. In 20 years, when David Clarkson ends his long and illustrious career with the Devils.

Beetlebum
of course it will he left to play with his brother not because of money.
LOTCB
I know these are two very different situations...but I would hope the Sabres would retire Hasek's number someday...and he left on bad terms...now I know Neids was not THE focal point of the Devils over the 3 Cups....but still..what a dominant force he was for New Jersey and a MAJOR part of the dynasty that was the Devils. Id give it a thought, but it is a tough call IMO.
Duck Fan
I'm thinking it will. I mean the guy brought you guys 3 championships and was an elite defenseman paired with Scotty Stevens. I mean for sure he won't be retired in Anaheim because he spent only two seasons unlike in NJ where he played for what 13 or 14 seasons? mddevsfan
No. Any player that leaves willingly forfeits the right to that honor.
stevestevens
I love Scott. He is one of my favorite players. He is a Legend league wide more than Stevens possibly. Any player that leaves though gives up the right to get their number retired unless they were traded and didnt want to or some jazz like that. Weekes Head
Does that include the likes of Sykora, Rafalski, Arnott, etc?
Vinnie
His number was given to Tallackson like a month after he left. Hint hint.
stevestevens
I hate how Waynes number was retired league wide. Why should my team not use 99 when the guy played for teams i dont care about.

TravisZajac
Before that though Barry had it. Oh ok..Didn't know it, since the last time i saw a player wearing 27 was David Clarkson. Anyway..Niedermayer i doubt he'll get his jersey retired.
