CMONPETEYD
I dont know Rathje's status, as of end of last year he was on long term IR. dont know if he willbe back. Flyers have some serious cap issues already.... with Rathje it looks like they are around 53 million. They have a buyout of Stevenson and a Waiver of Baumgartner at the bottom here. CMONPETEYD
yeah the site has all RFA's in blue. that would be his qualifying offer.

FightCommies77
What does the NHL actually do if a team is over the cap? I know they probably won't be playing, but like whats the official thing? Edited July 5, 2007 by FightCommies77

threestars
They have until 1st day of the season to get under cap, assuming they are not more than 10% over. Just like NJ last year.
aylbert
I believe they void the last contract that put you over the cap? Obviously, teams would rather just fix it themselves.
TravisZajac
Mouhahaha, I guess the Phailure$$$$$$$$$$$ will be in more trouble next year if the cap doesn't increase
SueNJ97
All they will do is waive Hatcher or Rathje. Really, it won't take much.
Elias26
A lot of talent on the roster this year, we will see if they can pull it together..
msweet
G-d, I feel so bad for them. Clarke (or whomever they say is their GM) wants to show he's a clever as Lou and will somehow use a loophole to escape. Or they'll just trade someone at a disadvantage. MantaRay
How can ANYONE consider giving Timmonen that kind of money, he is worth less than half of that salary figure. Holmgren can't add.

NJDevs4978
This is priceless, that dopey nhlline site has the Flyers giving Vanek an offer sheet 'if they can clear enough cap space'

insanity_gallops
Devilish, that website is great. I've been checkin' it out for a few weeks now and it's the easiest way to figure out a team's cap hit.
Pepperkorn
cute site devilish -- but a little behind - on Devils section Rupp and Oduya aren't signed yet (their numbers are 0 )
insanity_gallops
And PK beats me to the punch, as it were, when I got distracted by watching Baghdatis v. Djokovic at Wimbledon. Edited July 6, 2007 by insanity_gallops

Ricoche
So is there like a luxury tax as in baseball or when the league comes steps in to "help", they just simply tell you to get rid of a player or trade or whatever?
