DevilNurn
Oates should be our head coach...with PP, PK and faceoffs clicking, it seems he has a better grip on things than JMac does...

Agreed. Oates has done a pretty stellar job with the specials play. The PP has been pretty darn good of late and Oates has tried some creative things. I appreciate the effort. ATLL765
The past 8 or so games our special teams really has been clicking, but up until that point, everybody here thought Oates was useless and should be fired. I understand why people were saying that with how bad our PP had been, but it just goes to show you that things can be turned around quickly and drastically, so don't count Johnny Mac out as a good coach just yet. DaneykoIsGod
how many people have their first NHL goals on us this season I believe they said during last night's broadcast that Gordon was the second player to net his first career goal on Brodeur this season. NJDevs4978
Brodeur now has the NHL record for lowest in-game save % on goals allowed/shots against. How is that possible? You mean of goaltenders that actually played all sixty minutes of a game. ****, Valiquette gave up ten goals against the Stars a couple years back...I find it hard to believe someone doesn't have a worse in-game save percentage than .650 or whatever it was last night. Triumph
i don't think that can be true either, fwiw. turns out it isn't, brodeur's is only the 14th worst since 1988: http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi?request=1&player=&match=game&year_min=&year_max=&age_min=0&age_max=99&team_id=&opp_id=&is_playoffs=N&game_location=&game_result=&pos=G&c1stat=save_pct&c1comp=lt&c1val=.700&c2stat=time_on_ice&c2comp=gt&c2val=59&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=date_game Edited December 24, 2010 by Triumph

Yes, I stand corrected. 14th. The ranking showed up as most recent and didn't sort for me by save %. Still pretty craptastic either way. thelastonealive
And the Devils close 2010 with a record of 30-42-8. That's actually better than I thought. I was sure we were the worst team in hockey for the calendar year, but I think the Isles or Oilers may have us beat there.

westcoastdevfan
This is depressing: Brodeur is 5-18-1 with a .866 save percentage. Also the Devils average 1.7 gpg more then .5 goals below the team above them, Toronto. Ouch I think back the the first game of the year when the Devils scored 2 quick goals and everybody thought this team would score 500 times. My how things have changed. Patches O'Houlihan
There are 44 statistically qualified goaltenders in the league. Brodeur's GAA (3.15) is 38th and his SVPCT (.882) is 44th, i.e., worst in the league.
NJDevs4978
Now the Devils have matched their total of regulation losses for all of last year. And the season's not half over yet.
