I just had a similar discussion with my teenage stepson and told him that sometimes he has to suck it up and kiss some administrative butt or suffer the consequences. (Not aimed at the admins here.) I told him to get used to it because it will be such for the rest of his life. He and his friends are at the stage where they want to push the issue as far as they can and try to put one over on the adults. Ha! He's finding out we're not all as stupid as he thinks. As adults, we should all be past that stage. If you want to express your beliefs then, start your own website. When you visit someone else's, then obey the rules. No offense should be taken. Them's the rules. I personally could care less either way. But if someone wanted me to remove my Marty avatar due to political or religious reasons I would remove it. Anyway, good to see all the old regulars again, and some of the newer people too. I think this subject has been pretty well worn out and I'll quit stirring the pot i still think i saw some nip in your avatar roughdraft - i'm not offended, just don't want to see the board get closed down or become adult only , you know, just looking out for the well being of the board, ok. Don Posted April 19, 2005 Share Posted April 19, 2005 I really wish you wouldn't use one of the 7 dirty words as spelled out by the FCC, it really offends me.While I'm at it, as a catholic, I was terribly offended by the reference to alter boys and cover ups as well in an earlier post. You see, RBDF, both of those things are ALLOWED, so long as we are in the political forum. Well, the former is used outside the politics forum often as well... The point is that avatars and sigs are seen outside the politics forum. Political/releigious discussions/pictures/quotes are not allowed in the other forums. Don Posted April 19, 2005 Share Posted April 19, 2005 I wish we didnt have Sigs for one.. they take up so much space.. and as for avatars if we didnt have htem at least i couldnt get accused again of specifically referring to someone cause i noticed their avatar and was suppose to know who wrote hte comment.. You could always alter your avatar settings. But also, if they're set on no political sigs or avatars, then why can't it be followed? The whole reason this became a rule was because of some nasty debates in Hell where posters didn't respect their peers. I mean it doesn't matter if we have avatars and sigs either. langsgirl Posted April 19, 2005 Share Posted April 19, 2005 (edited) well im not going to get into that avatr anymore.. except in pm:) i made a promise and im over it... but i was told it was one complaint... and was told by 5 admin i think??? maybe 4..that none of them agreed just that since someone deemed it suggestive it had to be removed. so technically.. you could complain about something not offensive at all.. and it should be removed.. in the explanation i was given:) im sure they were just trying to explain it and it came out wrong.. im sure they saw something wrong with it.. or else i could just say to get rid of a hockey picture cause its offensive and they would have to.. under the logic i was given... so yeah im sure there is more to it.. but that was HOW it was explained to me. And thats fine with me... but on a side note... i did test it out... and complain about one.. and nothing ever happened:) So thats how i can pretty much say its not the case.. that one complaint will do it. OK Langs, point out one avatar right now that is more suggestive then your avatar with a man groping a womens breasts. Please, I would love to be enlightented. I deemed it suggestive, I PMed you to change it, somehow it becomes all the admins after you PM every other admin to get them to override me. All it takes is one complaint for the admins to notice a poorly chosen avatar Sammy. There is no votes, set limit or criteria.
