Derlique
yeah Boston better be getting Gaudreau or Bennett back.
SterioDesign
Sucks for them but they couldn't re-sign him so they decided to get as much as they could for him. That's the way to do things really.
RizzMB30
yeah Boston better be getting Gaudreau or Bennett back. Calgary is taking a step backward if they gave away Gaudreau.
Onddeck
no way is Gaudreau included in this deal. I can see their first but yea, that would be a huge step back for them
SterioDesign
So it is pick Nos. 15, 45 and 52 going to Boston for Dougie Hamilton. Edited June 26, 2015 by SterioDesign

Derlique
Does 14,15 and Lucic get #3? I bet it does then this wont look *TOO* terrible
ghdi
Calgary stole Dougie Hamilton. Gotta think Boston is aiming higher and has a tentative deal in place with someone else provided this went through. They give up Hamilton, probably end up with Hanifin and will be able to offload Lucic. Its all financially motivated IMO. ghdi
would we make that deal for Larsson? No. We don't have to make that move for Larsson. Boston had to do something because of their cap situation. It cost them Hamilton. I dont think for a second that they wanted to move him, but paying him and still taking care of the rest of the team was handcuffing them. TheMazz
James Mirtle @mirtle 16s17 seconds agoBruins were also offered much higher first rounders than 15th overall, which adds to strangeness of the trade.HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
Triumph
Horrendous deal for Boston. Got the absolute minimum value for an excellent player.

They give up Hamilton, probably end up with Hanifin and will be able to offload Lucic. Its all financially motivated IMO. It doesn't seem like they're that clever. According to James Mirtle, a lot of teams that might have been interested were not aware that Boston was this interested in trading him, or did not have enough advanced notice to put in better offers. And I don't think that Boston has the right mix to trade up to number 3 without taking several steps back. 14 and 15 won't do it. Nor would 14, 15 and Reilly Smith, or at the very least, the package that Columbus has offered is a lot better. Boston appears to be the new Milbury era Islanders. Derlique
The underratedly funny part is that Chia will have to deal with Hamilton for the next decade

I dont think for a second that they wanted to move him, but paying him and still taking care of the rest of the team was handcuffing them. They did the worst thing possible. You get rid of depth when you need to hit the salary cap, you don't gas your 2nd best defenseman who would be a lot of teams' best for picks. Chris Kelly's still on a terrible deal, they could move Marc Savard's deal to a floor team (if the NHL lets them), they could try to find a home for Dennis Seidenberg - instead nope, ditch your best young player for a bunch of picks. It's awful management.
Triumph
This is yet another page in the 'trading defensemen sucks' book too - Hamilton is a legit top pairing defenseman by any metric and they got a mid round 1st and 2 2nds back for him. Garbage return.

Garbage return. To be fair, Boston did an awful job revealing he was on the block, which would've driven up the prices. And by all accounts, Boston turned down higher picks to make this deal. This just sounds like incompetence

Triumph
I think that deal is fair value for Larsson as he is now, but not a sensible thing to do. Hamilton is better than Larsson.
