Could've easily been 7-0 considering some of the steals Schneider had to make. I'm not worried about this game one bit.

 

More veterans on the (preseason) lineup means less effort, more just being there to get in game-shape; contrasted with a Flyers team playing its FOURTH preseason game, and icing kids working their ass off to make the team. I mean, we saw the flipside of that on Monday at The Garden. These things happen.

 

What was most troubling was the play of Salvador and Harrold. I didn't think Salvador could've gotten any worse from last season but it's looking like he has. As for Harrold, am I crazy or is Kaberle looking a lot better in preseason than Harrold ever has? Wouldn't be surprised if Kaberle gets a Devils contract, but my worry would be that it effects Harrold's standing on Pete's bench less than it does put one of the kids into question.

 

As for Josefson, I don't know man..... Hope he plays tonight as well, he really needs to prove himself more than he already has. I did like Ruutu's game.

Anyone catch the solid LGD chant with a few minutes left? I was in a pretty Devils heavy section and the place was nearly empty. Hoping we got through on the tv in their building.

Are you getting that message on the "home" page or the link I gave you? I get the "this is a work in progress" on the "home" page but the stats for Devils vs. Flyers come up fine for me on the link I posted. The site seems rarely bare bones right now so it could have some glitches. Here were the Even Strength Corsi Numbers for the Devils skaters against the Flyers:

Yeah, that's all you have to do. The game id can be found when you go to the NHL site, click on the boxscore for the game you want, and the id is right at the end of the url.

 

I'm not sure if this is going to be the go to site for game by game Corsi numbers or if any of the new stat sites are going to be doing an Extra Skater sort of thing.

There is. On the Facebook group for the Crazies a bunch of them were all calling for Marty to be re-signed. Like Corey after not playing a game in 5 months is not supposed to be a little rusty.

The crazies are the most pathetic group of fans I've ever seen. And now you see that not only are they obnoxious, full of themselves, and annoying, they also know jack sh!t about hockey.

Gotta say I agree.  Didn't get to watch a whole lot of the game but he clearly isn't the player he once was.  Which is to be expected, obviously - but I don't think there's much of anything left there anymore.

 

Salvador looked bad, too.  But what else is new, right?  fvck it'd be great if he didn't make the team this year.

Totally agree on Gomez.. Watching him live last night, he looked constantly on the tips of his skates like his body wanted to go faster than his feet would allow.. A couple times he tried to dangle with the puck and ultimately coughed it up.. Seems to fit with his comments when the PTO was announced - that he still believes in his mind that he has some left in the tank.. His body, however, disagrees

You just KNOW that there's some Devils fans saying "See?  We should've re-signed Marty!" after that loss.  Oh well, preseason, and I get the feeling we might see some rough ones in October too as this team gets used to each other.  Hopefully not too many though. 

 

I may seem to be all doom and gloom but our goaltenders and our young d kids is something im not gonna rage about for at least a few years, im reaaaallllllly gonna let it go and at least enjoy they are there finally lol and others should do the same. We've been waiting and waiiiiting for the youngsters to finally get a spot on our team and we wanted the old guys out so bad. Certainly not gonna turn around and bash those kids, obviously they'll need time and same with Cory, he's not a god and hopefully the fan base won't expect that either.

I wasn't referring to you at all in my post...there's a wacky contingent of Devils fans who ignore what Marty's been for about 70%-75% of the last four seasons and still think he should be starting over Cory.  I know you're not part of that mindset.

 

Cory's already developed and quite good...I'm not worried about him at all...I expect he'll be roughly a 2.20 GAA, .920 save% guy.  The rest of the team is iffy.  It's really hard to know what to expect of them as a whole.
