thefiestygoat
Seems like the whole team is in a major slump right now. Boucher, Matteau and even Scarlett has been quiet lately. Been a while since I recall seeing him post a point. They have a 4.83% SH% with a .882 SV% over their last 8 games. Not surprised with the goaltending but was hoping the offense would be able to get hot to make up for it. Scarlett's SH% is now at 1.79%. Maybe he doesn't have a great shot but you'd think he'd get a little more luck.

thefiestygoat
AHL 2/22Albany lost to Springfield 4-2. Hrabarenka and K. Zajac had the goals with Helgeson, Matteau, Whitney, and Sislo picked up an assist each. Sestito had 5 shots, followed by Helgeson, Whitney, Thompson, Scarlett, and McPherson with 4 each. The teams combined for 122 penalty minutes mainly due to scuffle at the end of the game after the Falcons goalie went after Thompson. Helgeson got 5 for fighting, Sestito, Sislo, and someone on Albany's bench got game misconducts. Albany went 2/9 on the PP and 4/7 on the PK. Colorado Rockies 1976
Amazing what poor goaltending can do to a team. Looks like Wedgewood is going to be the latest Devils goaltending prospect to flame out (not like he was a high pick though). Brodeur playing as long as he did really hid the fact that the Devils really didn't really do a very good job drafting netminders. Thank god KK (undrafted) turned out to be a nice surprise. And I know Boucher's only 21 and Tri thinks it's too early to give up on him, but man has this been a lost season for him. Very very disappointing. And I know Boucher's only 21 and Tri thinks it's too early to give up on him, but man has this been a lost season for him. Very very disappointing. It's way too early to give up on him. He hasn't been playing with the top line, so that means his centers have been either Sestito (yuck), Graham Black (not great) or Kelly Zajac (for the time he hasn't been injured). He's getting his shots-ish - I'd like for him to be getting more, but he's at 2.5 a game so that's not awful - they're just not going in. I expect a big year next year - 30 goals/82 in the AHL if he starts there. He's not ever going to be a big assist guy, that's not his game. vadvlfan
I wish they'd give Hrabarenka a look at the NHL. The worst case scenario is he's on Fraser's level defensively, I would imagine. You know the devils thinking is they need a "bruiser type" nasty D man (Matt Greene, Robin Regher, Salvadore, etc. Fraser is all they have now. I'll bet Stevens is the biggest proponent lobbying Lou for this type of D man for the future. Somebody that'll drop the gloves occasionally, nasty in the corners etc. playing w/ an edge. Merrill, lars/gelly,/Severson don't necessarily bring this. Deboer was high on Hrabaranka too. Had a great camp. After the hopeful firesale, we'll probably see a few Albany guys get a look

vadvlfan
A Devs are in my neck of the woods this weekend. I'll go to the morning skate/practice in the AM at the "Scope". Probably be doing line rushes. I always feel weird about standing there watching. like they think I'm a stalker or something. I don't go there w/ jerseys etc. Usually the Admirals skate first, Devs watch their practice. Look forward to this all year
