A guy I’d love to add is Gudas. I think he’s available. Plays solid D and brings copious amounts of fvck you.

Bortuzzo is a UFA and is a guy I wanted several years ago and doesn't cost a lot. I don't think he is someone that would play every game or anything but he's basically a big pain in the ass; basically what we want Bahl to be.

Unfortunately he would need to be traded for. He's still signed for 2 more years

Seems like the devils reddit loves Siegs and think Marino could be on the way out. Baffles me, as even with a down year for Marino, he's still superior to Sieges. At least the eye test. If anyone has advanced status they otherwise please let me know.

I think Dougie could be on his way out in a year or two, we should expect at least in 2 years I would say we knew given his contract at the end of it, it wouldn't be pretty but that's always the expectation. One thing Fitzgerald is good at is Cap maneuvering, so depending on how far Nemec and especially Luke jump, could make it very feasible.

What do you guys realistically and honestly, in your opinion think our defense looks like next year?  Are we making Marino expendable, will Hatakka or Casey( just signed his ELC ) make big jumps, add another veteren not named Brendan Smith.

Dougie, Luke, Marino, and Nemec are locks to be part of the defense.  Smith will be gone, and I think Bahl may be, too, as he’s not shown anything to suggest he’s an NHL player.  He’s 6’7” and plays as though he’s my size (5’7”).  I don’t really want Siegenthaler back, but he’s coming off a down season and probably wouldn’t fetch much via trade, especially given the length of his contract, so he’s probably part of the top six, with guys like DeSimone, Hatakka, and Collin Miller competing for the seventh spot.  That leaves one spot open, which I’m hoping is given to a physical, defensive-minded veteran.

I think heads would explode if the Devils won the lottery AGAIN.

And if by some miracle the Devils actually do win the lottery……..

Look out below, as it opens up all kinds of possibilities.

I’m sure Rangers fans would start spewing forth all sorts of conspiracy theories.

Hiring Berube now would be a bit of a head scratcher given his availability when last season was still salvageable.

I would have been ALL for Lindy being canned earlier and Berube being brought aboard, but we know the deal…Fitz wanted it to work with Ruff.  Sadly when Fitz finally saw the damned light, I don’t think he had any real Plan B; hence, the pivot to Green.

Speaking of Green, Dreger reporting that Ottawa hiring him is just about done, and a press conference will follow on Wed.  And the response from Sens fans that I’ve read…well, let‘s just say that they ain’t happy.

In the super unbelievably unlikely scenario the Devils do move up, I wonder if Fitz doesn't outright trade that pick.

As was mentioned earlier, winning the lottery (or even moving up a few spots) opens a lot of different doors.

If you had Lindy Ruff and Travis Green as the first two coaches off the board, you won 🤣

I saw on twitter someone trying to spin it as a problem in the organization cause both of those losers were hired.

ignoring one went back to a failure of a franchise and the other was hired by a failure of a franchise

Probably a Rangers fan angry that the Devils have a chance to get better now that those two aren’t around.
