threestars
TSN article NHLPA executive director Paul Kelly wants to increase the number of regular season games to 84 by reducing the number of pre-season games...... My opinion is that this is bad, pre-season is a warm-up for the season, so won't this lead to more injuries?
Pepperkorn
grrr.. I want to shorten the season Makes no difference to the fans - they charge the same practically for the pre-season crap. I just think ti's stupid. I don't blame Niedermayer for taken the fall off - the season is too much. I think it diminishes the quality of play personally -- it's no wonder some stars phone it in. I'll still yell about them for slacking though.

RowdyFan42
The preseason's definitely too long, but lengthening the regular season is not the answer.
thefiestygoat
I wouldn't mind 2 extra games. I'm for it.

RowdyFan42
owners want their pound of flesh ... Actually, this time it was the players' idea.
Devs4LIFE
They just want the money. I don't think this will increase the number of injuries since pre season is usually a bunch of players running around looking to take off players heads hoping to get a spot on the roster. StarDew
The only thing is that we won't be able to see how the players from the farm play and they won't have as much time to try and acclimate to the NHL.

devilsfan26
The preseason's definitely too long, but lengthening the regular season is not the answer. The NHL doesn't schedule preseason games, the teams themselves do.
RowdyFan42
The NHL doesn't schedule preseason games, the teams themselves do. Yeah, that's nice, the preseason's still too long. And if you'd bothered to read the article rather than going off on newbies in the game thread, you'd have found that this extended season idea would've included a cap on preseason games. Devil Fan
Man, i think they should reduce it to 80 games. 20 games against the other conference; 40 games against the 10 teams that are in the same conference and 20 games against the 4 division rivals. SatansDevils
IMO not good to go 84 games. The 82 game season may be too many right now. I hope the 84 game season gets voted DOWN!
Devilsdude530
There is no evidence that people want to see every team in every market. It's utter bullsh!t. 12,000 people showing up for Florida-Edmonton tonight is evidence enough against it.
Elias26
Id say shorten it by 12 games.

Does anyone ever show up in South Florida to see the Panthers unless they are deep in the playoffs? I do not think using the Panthers as an example is a good barometer to measure against. Devils731
That's $300 more to my season's tickets Not if they play 2 less pre-season games since STHs get charged full price for pre-season anyway.
SC Devs Fan
2 more games = 2 more games revenue without having to pay the players more. Wonder how the owners will vote on this.

I wonder if they stopped doing them, it seems like a while since they sent the last one.
