While it is a fun video, and a cool song, it doesn't have the energy I want for a goalsong. :noclue:

And how could anyone but Chelsea use it in Futbol??? :noclue:

It's Chelsea's friggin Dagger!!!! :argh:

lol, the band is from glasgow though so i guess Celtic feel they can take it.

If you just take the 'chorus', i think it has the energy

While I agree it'd be a neat song...one of the big complaints about Ole! was that it was too soccer-y. And if we're going soccer-y then I just want Ole! back dammit. :horse:

Ole's isnt even a real soccer thing anymore these days anyway. I cant think of one club who's supporters sing that.

I think this song is great-Very high energy-just what's needed to Rock the Rock!

I did a quick and dirty edit-If I had the instrumental tracks I coulda used more parts

like the break down/bridge part towards the end. Oh well-best I could do with

what was there.

Wow! Great Job! You could even trim like 10 seconds off the end and it would still kick ass!

R&RPT2 is dead to me, hearing it in Pittsburgh and Dallas this year made me realise how over-done it is.

We need something new and original.

Having a verse in there would be an awkward moment for any fan who doesn't know the words to the song, but if we could use the horns followed by just the "oh's" then I like it! :)

Yeah I guess, it just sounds really cool when your, A. a Metal Head and B. drunk. Hahahaha!

I want "it's the end of the world" since the goal song is one of the most important issues facing the world today.

I was expecting a scarcity-of-scoring joke embedded with the It's the End of the World As We Know It suggestion, and it just wasn't there.

So here it is.

-------------

On another note, I recently learned (from a hockey trivia book), that the first professional sports team to use Rock & Roll Part 2 was actually the Colorado Rockies. Mildly ironic considering current circumstance, no?

It never was a soccer chant, it is chanted by the French fans for the French national rugby team in the Parc-de Princes in Paris.

They used it for celebrating goals and for their coming out onto the ice music (all three periods). I have a DVD of a home Rockies game and although you can clearly hear the crowd yelling out the "HEYS!", the song itself is really hard to hear...they really needed to turn it up. They didn't use a goal horn of any kind back then either, so it's kind of weird to see a goal scored, then hear the "HEYS!" almost right away afterwards.

Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger !!

That would be a great goal song. Celtic FC use it and when they score the crowd sings along with it like the drunkards they are. Its great.

Suggested that ages ago, got the same reaction as you , i think it would be a great goal song

Chelsea only used it as part of a warmup to the game song selection last season, and it hasnt been played at all so far this season, music isnt played when most teams score in the premier leauge, its actually pretty tacky. You dont really need music when 50,000 people are going crazy.

Deffinatley a scottish football song, when scottland beat gerogia at hampden park.:

Get The Gaslight Anthem to write us a song, or Godforbid :P

Well the Devils are not going to change the goal horn that is for sure. It took long enough for the new goal horn to get to the Prudential Center and just do not see them getting rid of the new goal horn. :noclue: That is there to stay.

As far as the goal song, that is another story and debate. I would like to see Rob Zombie "Super Charger Heaven" song.

Ole.

Y'know, just incase anyone forgot where I stand on this issue. :whistling:

An interesting idea might be Big Casino by Jimmy Eat World. It's driving, and it mentions ice, success, and New Jersey. The problem there is that there's not a HEY! or YEAH! or OH! type repetitive moment. To remedy that, I think it might be a good idea to start the song at the beginning of the chorus..."I'll accept with poine with grace/when they call my name from the lottery/and they'll say all the salt in the world couldn't melt that ice/I'm the one who gets away/I'm a New Jersey success story/and they'll say...". Put the lyrics to the "I'm a New Jersey success story" part of the song on the big board or ribbon screens so that part becomes the big singalong.

It's pretty unlikely and I'm not sure how well it would work (it'd definitely take some time to catch on at least), but at least it's different, and plays up the Jersey's Team marketing that hopefully the team takes on in the coming years, especially if the Nets' Brooklyn deal really does come to fruition.

I'm not trying to add fuel to the already burning fire here, but:

How many threads about this topic do we have to have before many posters realize that this a bigger issue than just - oh, a bunch of folks on a message board wants to change the goal song because:

a.) This new band is popular now and they rock really, really, hard

b.) It's a classic Rock song

c.) Some dude with his home audio editing software made a cool edit to a song (which is a copyright infringement by the way)

d.) It mentions (what could be interpreted as)hockey-related terms

These issues invovle major legal logistics, copyright negotiations w/publishers and writers, fee negotiations with Performance Right Organizations, in some cases use $$$, and a wealth of other things. When Jeff & Co. decide they want to make those moves, it will be well after they've solved the more immediate and pressing game attendance issue. This is less MArketing's job and more a job for their legal dept.

As it is, at least you're not subjecte dto "I Love L.A." each time a goal is scored!

I think everyone's well aware that there's more to it than deciding "hey, this is cool, let's use it." Obviously there's more to it than that. It's just interesting conversation is all.
