theamazingtiny
So...yeah. http://njmg.typepad.com/devilsblog/2009/09/devils-sign-center-rob-niedermayer.html Edited September 25, 2009 by theamazingtiny
Triumph
this is a very good signing. the devils could not go into the season with tim sestito or michael swift as 5th on the depth chart.
Allthegoodnamesweretaken
At least we have a Niedermayer back. Of course it's not the one I would have preferred.
aylbert
Now we can keep Scott Nieder... oh wait.
MadDog2020
Wow... I wish we could've done this 4 years ago.

DevilinLA
If its for anything more than 1M its an epic fail....hell, he was saying he never received ant "financially satisfactory" offers a few weeks ago! Even his big brother couldn't talk the Ducks into resigning him....
Devils731
I wonder what the length and dollar amount of the contract are but I assume they aren't bad. Obviously nothing that makes the team a ton better but it'll help a good amount until Elias comes back and gives the team some flexibility with lines back. Toby Flenderson: HR Rep
Too late Lou, too late. This guy can't skate anymore but if he gets about 7-9 minutes a game I guess it isn't horrible.
squishyx
this is all a master plan to bring Scott back into the fold. Very slowly rebuilding the 95 team...
Triumph
the ducks don't need him at all. the devils do. hopefully the offer is under $800K, but if it's over $1M it's not the end of the world either, since the devils aren't going to be adding anything major at the deadline. i also don't like rob niedermayer and will be sure to be shouting at my TV, but this is better than tim sestito. Ivan
Hmm, i am really not sure how this is going to be helpful at all. In the last 3 seasons he generated a total of 53 points. I really dont see him putting up more than 25 (very optimistic) points this upcoming season. Also does this mean that they threw in the towel on Swift, who i think can at least do a little better than Niedermayer?

MadDog2020
I'll withhold judgement unti I see what we're paying him, but all of the same people ripping this signing would be the same people that would rip Lou for doing nothing so I'm not surprsied to see the negative opinions. Jas0nMacIsaac
This is an excellent signing depending on the price. He is big, fast, defensive center. Excellent for the 4th line once Elias comes back. Niedermayer > Pelley + Sestito together on the ice. I'll also be the first to say.....LETS GET NIEDERMAYER AT THE DEADLINE! sokar
so how are the lines going to look when elias comes back, is elias going to be a center or winger, and i he is a center does that mean pelley is going to be sent down

MadDog2020
Forgot Clarkson. That I did- I KNEW someone was missing. Okay- let's try this again: ZZ-Pops Elias-Zubrus-Bergfors Shanny-Nieds Jr.-Clarkson Pandolfo-Pelley-Pikk/Leblond/Peters That is the most likely scenario in my mind. I'm still not ready to put Clarkson on the second line... yet.
