iamtheprodigy
http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/285652.html I can't read French, but it seems to say that they've claimed him. Anybody know of any other sources that might confirm this?

iamtheprodigy
Sorry, I just noticed that this was mentioned in the other Leach topic. I think this news is worthy of a separate thread though. If not, feel free to delete and my apologies.

njdevil26
See ya buddy. Of course he gets claimed by my second favorite team. Can't get away from this guy. Edited November 6, 2009 by njdevil26
iamtheprodigy
http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie from TSN is also reporting this on his Twitter page. Oh well, I was never totally infatuated with Leach anyway. Just hope this doesn't mess up Lou's plans.

msweet
Not sure why we took a chance on losing him and having to pay half the salary. I'm guessing Lou wanted him gone. I thought he played steady last year.
Triumph
hard to slip a guy through who will play for $250,000. oh well, leach was gone from the organization next year, and he's at best a replacement-level defenseman. lemaire should be trusting fraser a little more anyway. Triumph
jay leach's AHL salary was $200,000, so the devils only lose $35,000 on this transaction (the devils will owe a $195,262 payment to leach for the remaining 149 days of the season, plus the ~$39,800 they've paid to him already). i think it's worth that risk to try to get the best help up here. Devils731
Not sure why we took a chance on losing him and having to pay half the salary. I'm guessing Lou wanted him gone. I thought he played steady last year. Lou wanted him gone but tried to call him up to NJ? I'm not sure trying to promote a player, in a time where it seems obvious the team could use him, would mean the team wanted him gone. It seems more likely to me that the team knew it was a gamble to try and get him through waivers but that the reward for success, getting Leach on the NHL team right now, outweighed the risk, not having Leach play on the AHL team for the rest of the season. Amberite
Hmm I can't imagine that Lou didn't have a pretty good idea that this was going to happen. I'm not sure what his point was in doing this, but I have a feeling Lou wanted this to happen.
Allthegoodnamesweretaken
So who gets called up now?
Toaster13
I had a feeling that someone would claim him. Now is Lou going to call someone else up?
#21
You had to believe that with all the injuries, a team was going to take a chance on him.

ghdi
You had to believe that with all the injuries, a team was going to take a chance on him. Its the swine man, THE SWINEEEEEEEE! Im not surprised either. I dont think Lou planned on this, but I doubt he'll lose sleep over it.
MadDog2020
Does anyone else find it ironic that Jay Leach got claimed by Montreal, and his wife is the pre and post-game TV host for the Bruins?
