msweet
Somehow, the Devils dropped a spot on Forbes' annual list of NHL team values after they were sold for over $300 million in August. In 2012, they were 19th in the league and valued at $205 million. Under new management, they're now worth $320 million, but ranked 20th in the NHL. http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2013/11/devils_are_20th-most_valuable_nhl_franchise_according_to_forbes.html
point
I would not put much into this ; considering Forbes under valued the franchise by 30% in 2012.
The 29th Pick
We still have a ton of debt....but at least we're not losing as much as the Wild !
SterioDesign
Im not a pro with finance but in a long time once the arena is paid off the devils should be laughing

The 29th Pick
I thought the owners took care of the debt after the purchase? yeah good point...I didnt think of that....but the list say's our debt to value ratio is 81% ???????????? dmann422
I thought the owners took care of the debt after the purchase? I don't believe they paid the debt, but the difference is they have the money to continue to make the payments unlike vanderbeek.Overall I agree with point's point (lol)... After the top 5-10 teams, it's hard to give a ranking on franchise value.
TheRedStorm
I thought the owners took care of the debt after the purchase? They're "covering" the debt. Take that as you will, but the debt is non-existent as far as an operating standpoint.
Mike Brown
These numbers must be taken with a grain of salt. These numbers for the most part are projections. 20th isn't too bad of a spot. I think the Devils are still in the upper half of the league regarding revenue.
Onddeck
There's no way the new owners just fronted the debt in cash. I've never researched this but i would imagine the debt still exists just that the new owners are able to start making legit payments
Onddeck
I think they take "brand value" in account too. It's not all strictly black and white financials
Colin226
Oh and our TV deal is tied for 6th best in the NHL (with the Islanders) at $24 million per year http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mlh45eemg/nhls-richest-local-tv-deals/

Colin226
So that means we're never gonna separate from Dolan. Well sure, not until this current contract runs out, but afterwards we'll have YES and SNY to compete for the deal.. A bidding war could be very beneficial and hopefully MSG loses

Devils Pride 26
And Devils playoff games will be banished to the land of wind and ghosts on Cablevision. How hard is it to get an overflow channel like how msg does?
Devilsfan118
We can knock MSG all we want, but that TV deal is what's kept the Devils in NJ in the tough times. I'm pretty grateful for it, even if that means having sh!tty commercials repeat themselves over..and over..and over again during broadcasts. You mean there are people who don't already know that Stacy's mom has got it going on? Or that MSG can't wait for that Raymond Felton bio? Ugh. A bidding war could be very beneficial and hopefully MSG loses I'd love if we were on YES. My only concern is when the Yankees and Devils seasons briefly overlap in April. Yankees would definitely get priority. The playoffs start in April, and the first round would still get regional coverage. I'm sure they'd have to make an overlap channel. Not to mention there is also the Nets.
