Isn't on youtube yet but it was a dirty dirty, horrible hit. Yes, Downie deserves payback, but wow, not like this. It happened with 2 seconds left in the second period. If you have access to this game WATCH THE THIRD PERIOD. 2-2 score, it's going to get ugly real fast. Laraque got a 5 min major and a game misconduct. DEFINITELY a suspension coming. Downie got trashed with 3 seconds left in the 2nd period and Steven's put Cote out for the next faceoff and he tried to get Malone to go and was carrying on and got the 10. Funny how when Bergeron had his season ended with a hit from Jones it was his fault for putting himself in a vulnerable position. Now the Cryer fans don't quite see this one in the same light. I heard Downie got up and was ok, not knocked out, so which is it? Also, I heard that he put himself in a vulnerable position and looked back and saw BGL coming. impchick Posted January 25, 2008 Share Posted January 25, 2008 he got hit from behind with his head down. He was down on the ice for a few seconds but I don't think he was knocked out or anything. Georgie got the 5 for hitting from behind and a 10 for a misconduct. He was obviously okay enough to play again and mix it up in the third. Not sure you can actually hurt that guy. I created the thread as soon as it happened because I was dumbfounded at the stupidity of Laraque. The way Downie hit the boards... he's really lucky he's not in the hospital in a brace right now. I'd give Laraque 3 games for that, Downie wasn't turining and he hit him right up near the neck when Downie was most vulnerable. Clear intent to injure. Im tired of disucussing the numerous suspensions this league deals with on a constant basis, but I'd imagine anything between 0-10 games.
