Save your venom for the media outlet that gave him the platform to express his views.

This just in . . Joe the Plumber wants to overthrow the government.

"All right guys, I didn't prepare anything," Wurzelbacher said. "The only thing I've been saying is just get out and get informed. I mean really know what you're talking about when you're talking about it. Don't take everyone's opinions. I came to my own opinions by research. Get involved in the government. That way we can hold our politicians accountable and take back our government.

Eh i don't really fault him there I think a lot of politicians say that and get away with it just fine.

What bothers me is he says people should go out and do their own research like he did, but when that Sheppard guy asked him why he thought Obama would be the death of Isreal, he obviously had no answer. He is a lot like Palin in that respect, he speaks as if he has facts to back him up but never follows through when asked. I felt bad that he got swarmed with all this attention but now that he is feeding off of it, he's fair game now.

"take back our government" is a common phrase meant to give power back to the people and away from corporate lobbiests..... though in Joe's case I'm sure he meant "take back the House from the Democrats", but in any case I very much doubt that was any violent intent.

Anyhow, I didn't see a thread about it, but apparently Joe was supposed to be at a rally today with John McCain and he was a no-show. It was a mild embarassment with McCain called him up to the stage and he wasn't there. But as a friend of mine said, "Typical. On three occassions I've tried calling a plumber and they were no shows."

I figured as much, MD ... any idea as to the veracity of "a friend" and "running or standing water," as it were?

I did also hear the audio clip where McCain called for him and received no acknowledgement, so it's not as if CNN's making up the story :P Obviously according to the link above he was probably at a rally later in the day so MD isn't wrong but Don is right.

Geez littleton accuses us of being touchy, this isn't a big deal at all - just kind of amusing in the same way righties thought Biden telling the senator in his wheelchair to stand up was laughable (and it was).

And at least Biden realized right away that he made a stupid mistake.

Hus ... Hasan, what did I tell you about reading into things? My intial thread had nothing to do with the most amusing and most validated, McCain-Joe'Plumber faux pas, and everything to do with the Wizard of Oz (a.k.a., Don) :boogie:

Of course...but that immature dig is old news. It's the Republican way to creatively name-call and insult when they have no real point to make. Too bad that's not prohibited in this forum, of course the folder'd probably cease to exist without the pissing contests every thread become.

History shows that things tend to calm down in here after an election. I hope that's the case this time around, otherwise it might be time to beg DM to either shut this forum down or institute some real rules.

If that were to be the case, the rules have to be fair, they can't be subjective. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other in here.
