hattrick Posted April 13, 2004 Share Posted April 13, 2004 When I was at game 3 last night I noticed the following: 1. Much better hitting by the Devils and a complete 60 minute hockey game. 2. I did not hear a 1975 chant. I had to explain to a Flyer fan what the meant. Shame Shame shame....it's the last time the Flyers won the cup. 3. Moe, Larry, and Curly (Flyer Comcast announcers) were right behind me in section 233 row 22. Before the game, I explained to Steve Coates that Fox Sport NY provides High Definition TV. You can hear Coates make his comments during the game over the other 2 stooges. 4. With 10:45 remaining in the 3rd, I heard my first Rangers suck chant. That was impressive and/or disappointing. I expected more Rangers suck chants. 5. A Flyer fan with a weird orange and black spikey hair piece. 6. Overall respectful, courteous behavior between Flyer and Devil fans. But to add insult to injury the guys jersey said something like "haircutters.com" or some garbage on back. Come on, advertising yourself at a hockey game?? As for general respect...not where I was sitting. Up in the top on section 216 people were getting pretty brutal hehe, I loved it. I cant say I liked seeing the full beer bottle being thrown down 17 rows at the pair of flyer fans leaving early, but they did kind of deserve it as the one jerk had his pants just about down for the 'ole moon. After that some silly old lady in a flyers hat went whiney to the bouncers...and they promptly escorted her out...for her own good heh. My girlfriend was all confused, when I finally explained it to her, her exact comment was "Ouch, thats pretty damn harsh...then again, who drives a porche drunk? Thats called natural selection" hehe. It is original - I have asked several of my friends who root for different teams (Boston- Carolina - Washington) and they all have distinctively different Rangers Suck chants. And don't be so quick to slam Devils fans: "hockey crazy" St. Louis didn't sell out either last night. As for the Ranger$ Suck chant...it's genius. It cut the legs out from that pathetic Potvin cheer from the blue seats. oofrostonoo Posted April 13, 2004 Share Posted April 13, 2004 I was up in 217.....they got some good DUI chants going.....I put up a sign in the goal judges booth before the game for warmups and for the first part of the first period before it was taken down that said DUI DONALD....he definally noticed it...he went right by and read it.... Also during the YMCA song everyone up top pointed at this guy and went H-O-M-O......and at thge part where they say Yeah Man! Everyone would point and yell ++++. The Potvin sucks has been going on since 1982, the Rangers Suck is pathetic rip-off. Well, you see, what us pathetic Devils fans did was take a chant the Rag$ fans made up to dishonor a defenseman who makes Brad Park and Brian Leetch look like a pair of Deron Quints, and turned into an anti-Rag$ chant. Impressive, huh? I hear Devil fans are now yelling, "It's a power play goal. F--k You Sam Rosen!" after power play goals. Well, they have been doing that at the Collisseum for 15 years. Never heard it there. Then again, never went there. Maybe if I had gone to Hofstra. 1940? Yeah, that was cute. Devil fans saying that before their team had ever won a cup. Genius. Right, and then the Rag$ fans came back with "19-never"...which really didn't last very long, did it? Tell me: did you even get a chance to chant "1995" before 2000 hit? Did "2000" last a season or two before "2003?" Or has it set in that unless the NHL contracts 24 teams, the Rag$ aren't winning three Cups in nine years like the Devils have.
