cyrisjoe
This is not saying this season is over, im just thinking, keep in mind he will be making more then 10m a season most likely.
CRASHER
funny I was just saying that... it would be ironic to do it to St.Louis AGAIN the problem is no way does Lou have the $$ for him AND Niedermayer unless Pronger is that hungry to win

Joe Mac
Pronger will be priced out of the Devils range unless there is some major cap and the Devils happen to be under it.
Don
Maybe the Blues will try to steal one of our restricted free agents... say... Kozlov or Friesen... and then we can ask for compensation. --------- Pronger makes $10M/year. I don't think we could afford him. Especially with our deal with Marty that he be the highest paid.... FunkyBlueFish203
Pronger's good but too costly. The Devils should bring back Jason Smith. Remember Gator? Drafted by the NJ Devils, he started his rookie season in NJ in 1993-94 (the same year as Martin Brodeur). He was dealt to the Maple Leafs and has been in Edmonton for the past few seasons. He's 30 years old. He's a stay-at-home defenseman who is very solid in his own end. He can hit and he plays smart. He has the pain threshold of a dead animal and he's a good leader. His contract is up at the end of this season and he only makes 2.3 million per season. This is the guy I wanted Lou to land during the trade deadline. The Edmonton Oilers just gave Steve Staios and Ethan Moreau contract extensions. There's no room for all 3. Gator's the odd man out and he was almost Pantherized this season. Seriously, he'd be a solid addition to the lineup and Lou should make a pitch for this guy.
HockyStr99
Pronger makes $10M/year. I don't think we could afford him. Especially with our deal with Marty that he be the highest paid.... haha Marty's arrogance hurts the Devils again but in all seriousness he is probably too expensive Edited April 16, 2004 by HockyStr99
Elias Sports Bureau
I ain't dreaming about that. We never go for these type guys. But it always comes up anyway. It seems like a subject for a Maple Leafs board.
Derek21
I like Pronger but really wonder if he'll ever learn from his playoff disappointments. The loss to San Jose wasn't all his fault. He was really the only legit D-man they relied on with Jackman and MacInnis out. How the Blues can live w/o him I don't know. My feeling on Pronger is maybe he'll realize what he has to do to win. I can look at one classic example of that. You know him as Scott Stevens. Once a lunatic on skates who would lose his marbles over anything, he was frequently off the ice when the Caps needed him in key situations. Then wound up in St. Louis a year. Then things changed via an arbitrator as compensation for Brendan Shanahan. Stevens was around the same age Pronger was when he arrived in New Jersey. The rest is history. Stevens made the necessary adjustments to become the most dominant defenseman at his position and a three-time Cup winner. Pronger plays the game just as ferociously as Stevens and can log tons of ice-time and play in any situation. He can chip in offensively and is very physical on D. He likes to hit. He can skate well and do it all. But he has this temper. Similar to a young Stevens. Does Pronger want to continue failing in the first round or does he want to change his game and make the ultimate sacrifice to hold Lord Stanley's Cup? He will have to make less money given the future of the CBA. To me, this guy is as good as anybody on the blueline. He is intimidating. But I feel Pronger despite a great year coming back from injury, is at a crossroads. Saying all these, he could help a lot of teams. But is he leaving the Blues? Swede
I would love to have him here!!!! He is one of my favourites! (together with Nordstrom and Jovanovski) hmm... wonder if it would be possible to trade captiain Nords away from the Kings
Devildude
it would require a lot to get proger... but with a new owner... you never know
MantaRay
Pronger is tooooooo expensive and not a quality leader. The guys is a loser who gets frustrated too easily when the pressure is on. His teammates don't even like him. St Louis can keep him, if not I am sure the Ranger$ will sign him. I would rather have a Nick Boyton who is young Scott Stevens too me. djstubbs
$10,000,000... I don't think so... He makes more than Nieds and Stevens... Give me a break! But I wouldn't mind him coming if he had a lesser salary.
NJayDevil
He would be AWESOME. But Nieder is way more important and if comes down to Nieder and Pronger, or ANY other defensemen in this league, Nieder gets my vote, hands down, no 2nd thoughts. vadvlfan
There are other D-men that would be very good and more fair $$$ value. Someone physical who leads and get score once in a while. Keiht Carney comes to mind. Haven't looked to see who else is available but you dont have to sell the farm to get a good defensive corps! Pronger isnt worth near what he gets paid. Vince

MantaRay
Agreed about Smith & Carney instead of Chrissy Pronger. Lou believe in quality charactor so Pronger would NEVER make the Devils.

With the CBA i think players are gonna be taking some pay cuts...Didnt Naslund take a nice cut...

Super 17
Is it possible we could get Sakora back? Who is this Sakora you speak of? Did I get the name wrong? Devils traded him last year to the Ducks. Is it Sykora?
FunkyBlueFish203
Yes, it's Petr Sykora. 1/3 of the Devils famous 'A line.' Sykora, Arnott and Elias.
Zamode
Pronger is not coming here. Criminy, the season hasn't even ended yet and some of you are talking trades already and lines for next year. Wait until the body is cold before you bury it, eh?
Don
Since we were posting Python in that other thread: MORTICIAN: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD. *CUSTOMER gives limp old man to the Mortician* CUSTOMER: Here's one -- nine pence. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! MORTICIAN: What? CUSTOMER: Nothing -- here's your nine pence. DEAD PERSON: I'm not dead! MORTICIAN: Here -- he says he's not dead! CUSTOMER: Yes, he is. DEAD PERSON: I'm not! MORTICIAN: He isn't. CUSTOMER: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill. DEAD PERSON: I'm getting better! CUSTOMER: No, you're not -- you'll be stone dead in a moment. MORTICIAN: Oh, I can't take him like that -- it's against regulations. DEAD PERSON: I don't want to go in the cart! CUSTOMER: Oh, don't be such a baby. MORTICIAN: I can't take him... DEAD PERSON: I feel fine! CUSTOMER: Oh, do us a favor... MORTICIAN: I can't. CUSTOMER: Well, can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long. MORTICIAN: Naaah, I got to go on to Robinson's -- they've lost nine today. CUSTOMER: Well, when is your next round? MORTICIAN: Thursday. DEAD PERSON: I think I'll go for a walk. CUSTOMER: You're not fooling anyone y'know. Look, isn't there something you can do? DEAD PERSON: I feel happy... I feel happy. *MORTICIAN HITS OLD MAN OVER THE HEAD AND THROWS HIM IN THE CART* CUSTOMER: Ah, thanks very much. So much of that very conversation has been repeated on this board over the past two days.
