Not sure we have enough talent to trade for a big name like Thortan.. If you ar Bos are you taking anything less then Gomez plus for him?? I'm not...

so lets for get thet...

and other than a bag of pucks what are you going to get for freeze???

No any moes that LL makes are going to be middle of the road, not enough talent on this team to snag the big fish

The Devils need a scoring winger, they have an excess of defensemen right now. Logically it would be some surplus defensemen and a young prospect for that winger. Lou however never does what we would consider logical from a fan's point of view. As far as free agent wingers, Lou would have to find one that would come here cheaper than anywhere else.

Lou always seems to come up with the player us fans groan about at the beginning yet always seem to come through in a big spot for the team.

Trust in Lou! B )

If we dont sign stevens then we defenitly need another vet. D-man, and of course were going to need someone big up front. Im liking the thorton deal...............i think

Its obvious the devils need a scoring winger.. Maybe someone big.. I think the devils should strongly consider Paul Kariya.. not big.. not too old.. and he's fast and he can score.. Not to bad for about 2.6 to 3.2 mil..

assuming elias doesnt come back right away...

Friesen - Gomez - Gionta

Kariya - Parise - Kozlov

Pandolfo - Madden - Langenbrunner

Rasmussen - Brylin - Oliwa

and when elias comes back.. we can knock oliwa out of the roster.. i think this would be the way to go

I wouldnt mind going the suglobov route... but i would add him anyway along with Kariya.. get some scoring everywhere.. cuz this is "the new nhl" so scoring is the key right? cuz if you look at it this way... the devils dont get a scoring foward.. elias is out for a while.. til atleast december.. Parise is gonna lead the devils in scoring.. tough task for a rookie.. just food for though..

a couple issues with kariya.

don't think we can afford him at 2.3, nor do i think he'd sign for that little. he'll get at least $4M and most likely $5M from someone.

your lineup does not include marshall or langdon or elias. so when elias does return, you have oliwa, langdon, and marshall on the bench.

if a guy like kariya comes, you'll absolutely see either freisen or kozlov gone, which doesn't really make the devils better because i'm not convinced that paul's a huge upgrade over either anymore, especially at what he'll cost.

Mogilny wants to play, but not in T.O.

TheFourthPeriod.com

Free agent winger Alexander Mogilny expects to play in the NHL next season, once he is completely healthy following hip surgery, reports the Toronto Sun.

Mogilny's agent J.P. Barry says his client has received much interest, but none from the Maple Leafs.

The Sun claims it is unlikely so see the veteran sniper wearing the Blue and White next season.

"I have not heard anything from the Maple Leafs regarding Alex," Barry told the Sun. "I've had preliminary discussions with close to a half-dozen teams.

"I think if he continues to work out at the pace he has been, he will be ready for the start of the season."

Mogilny has been working out all summer and recently changed venues to Los Angeles from his hometown of Khabarovsk, Russia.

Meanwhile, reports still suggest the Leafs are close to signing free agent center Jason Allison, and are apparently interested in winger Zigmund Palffy.

And, according to the Toronto Star, center Nik Antropov said he is considering lucrative offers to play in Russia.
