lou said that when you pick a coach, you have to look at the players you have and choose a coach based on that. right after that, he said he liked julien's experience in international, junior, and AHL hockey. to me, that means we are going to see younger players play a significant role next year.

Maybe, and from what I've read, he did well with younger players in 02-03/03-04 and gave them a shot, but handled younger guys like Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Higgins, etc., very oddly this past season after injuries befell the Canadiens early on.

Sorta exciting. I guess we'll see.

Low risk/low reward kinda guy.

Very defensive.

Very conservative.

Prefers veterans to youth.

Gives a lot of opportunities to the old guys to proove themselves wrong.

Young guys will have to proove themselves during training.

Likes to use a passive/defensive 3rd/4th line when he feels his team lacks talent.

Not very imaginative. Not very flexible. Like to use "safe" strategies.

Has been known to use offensive duos with a "defensive wing" stopgap.

Defensemen will not pinch.Likes to sit back and use a "counterattack" approach.

Young guys who make mistakes will get killed. They will have to backcheck HARD.

Will prefer safe, uncreative players to creative but defensively unreliable guys.

141-109-16 with the Olympiques

I didn't think he was that great with the Olympiques. Those teams were better than those numbers indicate. Yes, it's above .500, but those were some great Olympiques teams. I didn't see him as the guy that could take an average team and make them overachieve. He seemed to be able to take a great team and make them average. There is a reason why Pat has his name in the rafters in Gatineau and Claude does not. He doesn't intimidate anyone. So much for this "keeping the guys in line" that Marty wanted.

But I wonder if Colin is happy to have his old coach back?

I hope the scouting reports of his conservative, defensive style is true. I hope he is not a player's coach and a disciplinarian. Hopefully he gives the young guys a chance, that is the only ? there seems to be about him. Seems like a good hire, can't wait to see how it pans out.

When it comes to the Devils, they are a very weird and unpredictable team.

It's almost like there should be Dark Shadows music and then Barnabas Collins comes out from behind the curtain.

Figuring out what the Devils will do makes me think of those old Unsolved Mysteries episodes with Robert Stack narrating.
