thelastonealive
Does this mean "WE'VE GOT WOOD!" is gonna be the "MARTY'S BETTER!" of the future?
aylbert
It would be interesting to see what Lou and company have to say about him.... there are a ton of articles of how well he plays under pressure, but he wasnt ranked high at all... ranked 19th among NA goalies by central scouting. This kinda worries me, but maybe Conti & Co see something in him: @TheGoalieGuildDevils went WAYYY off the board with Wedgewood. He was not only ranked #19 for domestic goalies by CSS, but he slid 6 spots from mid-terms
Jas0nMacIsaac
He was a backup for a veteran goaltender drafted fairly high, he is extremely young and he must of been the BPA for devils. I can't find a video showing his movement.
Revan
This pick doesn't seem cool at all... Still, it's the same people who drafted Marty, so they probably know something about goalies. Plus, G's development is much more unpredictable compared to skaters... There are a lot of goalies who were drafted late and weren't expected to even make the NHL and turned out to be class players, so maybe if the guy was expected to go late and the Devs took a chance with him a bit earlier, there is something to him... That's wishful thinking, at least. Hell, it's a 3rd round pick, it's no big waste if he's a total bust.
Devs4LIFE
I think it's important to remember that Wedgewood is still only 17 years old and hasn't had his shot at starting goaltender yet.
Coorslight
Our next pick, think it's this Joe Faust. Joe Faust Also nice to see an interview with our first pick!
thelastonealive
Defenseman Joe Faust is the 4th rounder. Great name for a Devil, by the way. Edited June 26, 2010 by thelastonealive
Triumph
would prefer that they didn't draft a goalie at all but drafting a 17 year old who hasn't started isn't the end of the world.
Coorslight
No 5th round pick...sorry I just noticed lol
Ollie McKraut
I guess I'll be seeing plenty of our first round pick for the next year or three. And rooting against him for that matter. But hopefully this is a high-future-value selection, worth the wait. In lou we trust

By the 3rd round its not that big of a deal anyway. All goalie picks are risks, Wedgewood given his age is probably a bigger risk than most. They obviously saw something in him to take him when many higher ranked guys were still on the board.
thelastonealive
Thrashers just drafted a defenseman named Sebastian Owuya. I'm guessing to pair with Johnny Oduya.
thelastonealive
Maxim Clermont in the 6th round. 'nother goalie. His info Edited June 26, 2010 by thelastonealive
Marshall
Thrashers just drafted a defenseman named Sebastian Owuya. I'm guessing to pair with Johnny Oduya. Brother of goalie Mark Owuya, perhaps.
thelastonealive
Apparently Clermont was the 18th ranked North American goalie in the draft. The first goalie we picked, Wedgewood, was the 19th ranked.
thelastonealive
Aaaaand we close out Draft '10 with Mauro Jorg, Winger from Switzerland. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=118147
Revan
This draft sucked bad. I expected some significant trades to be made and it was totally silent. All the GM's in the same place and yet much more happened before the draft than during those two days...
Triumph
bleh what a poor draft from NJ. drafting two goalies in the same year is terrible.
elias2600
I have a feeling it's going to be quite a while before we are going to see any of these players turning pro in NA. Jorg might be the first because of his age and the competition he has been playing against already. It might not hurt to let him keep playing there though. Anyway, I think we will all need to have lots of patience to see results from this draft. I guess with some prospect knocking on the door in the next couple years we can afford to have this kind of draft year.
