It should, 33% of Kovalchuk's career goals come against only 4 teams (Florida, Tampa, Washington, Carolina).

so glad to see you added intellectual dishonesty to your bag of tricks. yes, that is true. however, he's played 30% of his games against these teams as well. in games not against these teams, he has 227 goals in 451 games.

scoring rate overall: .531 G/G

scoring rate w/o tampa, florida, washington, tampa: .503 G/G

so yeah, there's a difference, but not like you're making it sound. also he now has 20 games against the southeast division instead of 24.

I think it's more important to see what players compliment him well and get 2-3 lines that will be working heading down the stretch. Elias and Arnot have looked good and the rookies have looked promising but we will start to get parts back soon and I'm interested to see how everything is integrated. I thought Chico brought this up the other night, how the devils actually played better with fewer parts last year and actually started to falter as they added people (Kovy, Clarkson ect).

Devils are 5-5-1 in their last 11 (though somehow it feels much worse)...guess if anyone's looking for positives, they're at least managing mediocrity as of late.

It should, 33% of Kovalchuk's career goals come against only 4 teams (Florida, Tampa, Washington, Carolina).

Another fun fact:

33% of Ovechkin's goals have come against the same 4 teams (Atlanta, Carolina, Florida, Tampa Bay).

(And just for the hell of it, 40% of Crosby's goals have come against the same 4 teams. Which teams? New Jersey, both New Yorks and Philadelphia. Obviously what division someone plays in, and therefore plays the most games against, has nothing to do with which opponents they rack up the most goals against. )
