Random Poster
One other good thing about opening this to the public today. This is a good sign that it will be open for training camp at least once. It's been a bunch of crap how they've closed training camp and practices for the last while. Hopefully, this was a test to get an idea of how to run it for Sept. Coorslight
Thanks Colin for the great review. The more I read about Tedenby the more and more I get excited about him. Every video I've watched he seems like an extremely smooth and very fluid skater. I am honestly in awe watching videos of him and watching the way his legs move as he skates. devilsfan26
Great info Colin. How did Halischuk look? I thought Halischuk looked real good. I think he was better than everyone except Tedenby today. I didn't notice Josefson too much, but I think he was on the same line as Halischuk, which might have been the best line. One thing I noticed about Tedenby is that while he is flashy and offensively-gifted, he did bo diddly on defense. While the play was in his defensive zone, it seemed like he was almost always in the neutral zone. It is also worth noting that there was a fight in the first period between Harry Young and I think Kevin Cormier Ashton Bernard (thanks tharrison for the correction). Crasher took a video of it, I'm sure it will be up soon. There didn't seem to be any penalty for fighting, as both players just went to the benches afterward, and I noticed one of them back on the ice for his line's next shift. There seemed to be a lot of animosity between the teams, but I'm sure a big part of that was just guys trying to impress the coaches. They lined up for a handshake after the game, which was cool. It was definitely a lot of fun, I hope they do this for training camp as well. Edited July 18, 2009 by devilsfan26

Devils Pride 26
Thanks for the info. How was the crowd? You think the kids were surprised to see people at a prospect camp?
tharrison
The fight was very early in the 1st- staged- between Harry Young and Ashton Bernard. Both guys talked and nodded before the faceoff, then immediately dropped the gloves and helmets once the puck dropped. Not much of a fight- Bernard did alot of sweater grabbing- even ripping Youngs sweater- which is why he had no number the rest of the day- he had to change his out. Bernard appeared physically stronger- slamming Young into the boards twice- but Young seemed like he wanted to throw more punches but couldn't reach Bernard. Overall a yawner. PL3 really threw himself around in the 2nd period. With about 2 minutes to go he was really steamed at someone on the white team whose name escapes me- K Cormier finally stood up on the bench and hollered back at him but there was nothing from Kevin today in the physical department- although he did get a goal. devilsfan26
Thanks for the info. How was the crowd? You think the kids were surprised to see people at a prospect camp? The crowd was pretty good. Lots of people clapped for good plays and stuff. Seemed like everyone was really into it, but it was hard not to be with the seats practically right on top of the ice. The players didn't really look surprised or anything, I assume someone told them it was going to be open to the public today anyway.
Elias FTW
any chance Tedenby makes the team?
USC09
any chance Tedenby makes the team? No, not this year, he still has two years left in his deal with HV71, but he can opt out after this season for the NHL, so he will play in Sweden this year. He does intend to make it for the 2010-2011 team.

He was one of the standout guys there too, although I can't remember anything too specific aside from when I went "Damn, who is that guy?" and then looked him up in my roster.. A top prospect indeed.. Good analysis on Tedenby.. Completely correct I think I said this before but here's how it went for me watching Josefson (who was #60).. At first I was like "Ok this guy isn't really in any of these plays. Maybe he isn't so amazing after all" and then I decided to watch him instead of watching the play.. When you watch him you just see his mind thinking about the play 2 steps ahead of where it is.. He gets himself into great position every time and when he gets the puck he always makes the smartest play.. They said this kid was smart, but WOW i was not expecting that from such a young player.. Josefson is a top-notch playmaker.. He plays with his head and has the natural ability to act on his instincts.. Just think of what he can do with Parise, Tedenby, and Elias to name a few.. So after focusing on him for a while I really got to see why he was so highly sought after by Lou.. He's going to make a major impact on the team just by playing smart and setting up the right guys.. That's a leader in the making I just wanted to reiterate that last part about Josefson because he really made a huge impact on me..
Colin226
Great info Colin, thanks man!! No, thank YOU!! You guys all make it worth the effort, and you make it fun for me to cover these events live.. I know a lot of people wanted to be there for MB Day, the Draft Party, and the Rookie Scrimmage so I wanted to make sure they at least got live updates during the events with full discussions afterwards.. I'm on summer break and have flexible hours so I felt since I had the time I should step up and do this for you guys.. Your appreciation is all I need, so I thank you for that.. tharrison
Great videos Crasher- on a second watch of the fight Bernard was quite willing- but still a yawner. Hilights for my two kids were getting to meet Brylin- he was very generous signing for the kids and looked like he was having a great time, and having Lou greet them as he walked along the balcony between one of the periods- he also looked like he was having a great time. I'll be adding more stuff like this to my commentaries next year... after all now I HAVE the technology The fight was very UFC-ish (as I made comment of)... but the BOARD SLAM OF DOOM at the end was well worth it!!! I'll still think Brylin looked WAY hungover and like he woke up and stumbled to the arena
