I begrudge no one for enjoying it, I’m glad you do. I’ve always viewed it as the tournament for the players that didn’t make the playoffs, and that’s still how I view it personally. If the U.S. won, it would be great; I’d be happy if we won because it would be a testament to the growth of the sport here. But I just can’t invest in it emotionally the way I do the Olympics. I’ve wanted to see Team USA win a men’s hockey Olympic gold my entire life, and the two losses to Canada were bitterly disappointing (especially 2010). I think 2026 will be our best shot since Herb and the boys did it in 1980.

Players should be wearing full face masks, it will probably happen in our lifetime. Everyone grows up wearing them and the excuses not to wear them will eventually go away. Missing teeth, face lacerations, etc etc, all stupid avoidable stuff.

I care and I'd love to go one year. It's just hard to commit to trying to go to 2 weeks in a foreign country but I have a cousin moving to France soon so I might really try to go in a few years when it's gonna be there. The atmosphere at the games is great, fans are loud and into it, the players clearly care too. That Austria almost come back the other day vs Canada was a ton of fun. The Czech fans have been tremendous hosts. The Slovakia fans been amazing. It just looks fun! You're right that if the US actually win the whole thing this year that there won't be a parade or big party like other countries will have but I still care and I'd be overjoyed by it. I've been watching this tournament for as long as I've had access to watching the games which is gotta be almost 20 years now. I love seeing the US win anything, Olympics, worlds, world juniors, even the stupid nhl fake tournament but I'm selfish and want to win everything! Lol
