capo
Loktionov is looking like a great pick up. Deboer is fvcking around with his ice time. The guy is hot. PLAY HIM!

When Zubs is back we s hould be able to send back the Gionta Carter Bernier line to where they belong and have a decent 3rd. Im 100% convinced that we have to tweak our offensive system. i mean SERIOUSLY take the time to watch another team play and you'll see so many plays that you'll go... "damn the Devils would have never made that play" they are playing a strict structured offensive system and we're pinned on the boards all the time with no one in front, how can you possibly score? It doesn't help that Larsson and "Captain Salvador" can't skate with anyone and are constantly getting burned. Even with Zubrus the Devils need another top 6 winger to really balance out the lines. I'd REALLY like to know how many times we're GIVING AWAY possession, not losing the puck or anything, simply giving away the puck with a dump that we'll never reach or a long stretch pass that will never reach our guy. AND i'd like to know how many of our breakouts is leading to a shot. Sooooo often we dump and either lose the battle and the puck and the other team breakout easily since they come out with the puck and our 3 forwards are still behind the red line. coldply123
Stephen Gionta has no business being on this hockey team. Thats on Lou. However Deboer deserves blame for the idiotic usage of him and excessive ice time.
Devs1965
I've said it before the answer is not here or in the minors, they also need to stop playing Kovy for almost the entire game he is not the answer, we lost chemistry with Zach, and so far we have done nothing but expect all players to play better! This is my opinion. I just want Lou to notice we are lacking in goal scoring same as last year but at least the we had a little better system. Not having Zubrus hurts but let's face it we had a lot of the same problems last year but we had Sykora and Zach, most of our games in season were 1 goal winners or SO wins. We are in a real bad slump at a real bad time in a season you can not afford to lose like we are! What is the answer? If I knew I would be making a lot more money. But it is not playing Kovy on the right wing and almost the whole game. Lou is awesome at turning the ship around and I love this team and drank enough kool aid to know Lou will right the ship! I have kool aid faith! LET'S GO DEVILS!!!!!!!!!!
Devil Dan 56
I think it's great that people still think you doesn't know how to run a hockey team. I mean, it's not like they went to the finals last year or anything. The last couple of weeks have sucked, but there isn't much that can be done. Lou does not make panic moves. He also doesn't have many trading chips. Everyone wants a move. He picked up Laktionov for a 5th which looks to be a steal, then Ponikarovsky for 2 picks. Those are moves. He isn't going to make Bobby Ryan appear like magic. Additionally, I don't think they are comfortable trading a defenseman. If they do, one injury puts them in deeper trouble than they already are. I agree Lou is not a major trade type person, but lets look at this trade deadline there are going to be some real steals the new CBA has so many teams over the cap a lot of moves are going to happen. I'm a old timer who thought Kovalchuck was someone Lou would never go after,, I don't think he did that looked like JVB. I'm just saying it is going to be interesting come trade deadline and free agency with all the new rules anything could happen. But Lou don't play for big deals he likes to stay homegrown! CarpathianForest
Think we're going to move Volchenkov ? For what? Some used practice jerseys and a couple pucks. Problem is Lou painted himself into a corner. He's got a bunch of old dead weight on his hands and can't get anything in return.
nessus
Can someone please explain to me why trading a defenseman is such a bad idea? The offense seems to need more work. Trading away one of 8 capable defensemen is not the hugest sacrifice, despite the fact that the Devils seem to like having this surplus on D. Devilsfan118
Perry. Do it Lou!But in seriousness, no moves will be made. We have no pieces worth trading, nor any draft pics. Lou's a magician, but it'll be tough to make an impact player appear for some of the garbage spare parts we'd have to trade. Our once supposed 'surplus of NHL calibur defensmen' is looking pretty bad right now. Can't imagine anyone's bidding on Tallinder, Volchenkov, or Greene. C'mon SD, I really hope you truly don't mean that. Deboer's bread and butter got us all the way to the Cup Finals last year. The entire roster is basically the same. The system will not be changed. The players need to get this ship righted by starting to produce, and that will happen soon. Elias, Zajac, Clarkson, Kovy, and Henrique will start producing. And let us all remember our system works best when we have the third defenseman gobbling up the dump ins, we need Marty back.

Maybe. Tallinder isnt' worth much the way he's played. Volchenkov has an NTC and Zidlicky was gotten for Nick Palmieri. None of them are worth anything close to a top 6 on their own let alone together.
The 29th Pick
Our D isnt Devils D, maybe we miss Larry Robinson, maybe Scotty Stevens is one of those great players that cant coach that well. (I am not knocking or bashing SS) our special teams are...well...not so good and yeah Moose isnt looking like he did last year, he really over commits and leaves the other side of the net open. njd3b1ink
Just want to say that it is just as common for fans of a team to underrate their players as it is for them to overrate their players. If is 100% false to say that josefson and tallinder have no trade value. Before I say anything about tallinder a value let me say that I am not a tallinder fan at all. With that said, tallinder is not a bad defensemen. I really think he's gotten the sh!t end of the stick since coming here. He's battled injuries every year, had to learn 3 systems during his limited play, and basically lost his mentor job to the assistant coaches. I don't think u wud get something amazing for him by himself but u can probably get something decent. JJ on the other hand is a prospect with promise, which are always valuable. When people say "nobody knows who he is besides devils fans." Do u really think that's true league wide. GMs know what he could bring down the road. I can't say what lou will do, but I'm pretty positive that if he wanted to package the two together they would have enough value to get a serviceable forward in return.
