DevsRule
Friesen, White and Langenbrunner for Bertuzzi and picks. First i read somewhere that someone here wants Domi, now its Bertuzzi??? Are you serious? First of all the deal doesnt help the devs at all and second Bertuzzi is a %$#@.
BlueSkirt
I knew u would like that article, NJay ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I did. Too bad it was from thefourthperiod.com so that's about as credible as Stan Fishler. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well it was written by thjis guy: Fri, August 5, 2005 Adblock Fan fave Domi re-signs Adblock 'We do value his service': Leafs GM By TERRY KOSHAN, TORONTO SUN
RowdyFan42
I have a feeling Lou's next move will be small... a depth player who will be given a chance to make the team but will probably end up as a Rat... don't have any names in mind, though. KarlovyVary
How about Yannic Perreault? He's a great role player and stick him with some good scorers, he'll be good.

But why wouldn't you want Bertuzzi? OK, dumb question. But if what happened 2 years ago never happened, im sure you'd love this trade. SueNJ97
I'm shocked that Almo went back to Russia. That's a total change of mind for him. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's good for his kids to see where their Dad grew up and for him to go home. But even a few years ago he was saying that his trip back during the 1994 lockout was his last visit. That he'd bring his family (parents) here for visits because his life was here now. Wonder what changed his mind. Maybe one of his parents was ill. Maybe he just finally got homesick. Edited August 5, 2005 by SueNJ97

KarlovyVary
Perreault is a bundle of inconsistency, but he has a great game when he can find it. He played on a line with Zednik and Koivu for a while with great chemistry before he got benched a few games heading into the playoffs. A couple of years back, he was leading the Habs in scoring. He's a great skater with a decent wrist shot, except that he always goes stickside low.
NJayDevil
Perreault is one of those players that would benefit coming to the Devs to revamp their careers. Plus having the best faceoff guy on your team is huge.
Triumph
Wow. This thread appears to be full of delusions. 1: Peter Bondra seems like he is finished. A guy like Bondra is wasting space if he's not scoring 30 goals, and that is a big question mark. He'd be another non-physical player on a predominantly non-physical team. 2: The scorers left out on the free agent market are damaged goods. I don't think I would want any of them. Yanic Perreault? We have plenty of centers and Perreault's had three good seasons in a 10 year career. 3: More than scorers, the Devils need a physical presence. Trent Klatt is UFA, he should be signed ASAP; unfortunately Trent's a big union guy and will probably get some team to overpay for him like the Kings did. Still, a physical player that can score 15 goals would replace Turner Stevenson. You haven't forgotten him, have you? 4: The Devils have almost no players they can trade. Madden and Brylin are on the Lou loyalty list, and their salaries are too high. None of the defensemen can be traded unless Lou's lost his mind. Friesen and Kozlov are worthless. Unless the Devils moved Suglobov with one of those players to snag a 2.5-3 million salaried player not playing up to expectations, they're unlikely to make a major deal before the beginning of the season. RowdyFan42
Agreed on Bondra, Tri. Lou could probably get something decent for Friesen. Only problem is, we kinda-sorta need him considering our short supply of LWs. And remember, guys, Kozlov might not be coming back this season (link), so that'll free up some room. LizDevil30
I have a question. Wouldn't Lou's next move to resign all those RFA's he qualified? There is a difference between qualfying and signing right? Arbitration comes next? What I'm getting at is with no cap wiggle room what if someone (ie Gomer) gets awarded more in arbitration? I'm a little fuzzy on this post new CBA.
nj96
To add to that question... (sorry for the coattail ride) Can the owners now take the players to arbitration? Say Friesen for example? Just curious. -Dan Edited August 5, 2005 by nj96

nj96
So, in effect, we may be well below the cap and not even know it yet. Some big money players had some bad years, so maybe that's Lou's thinking-process. -Dan

I'm a little fuzzy on this post new CBA. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't we all... I guess the player can either sign their qualifier or go to arbitration where they'll get awarded what they want or what the team wants (the qualifying offer?). And I really don't think the Devils are doing much, their forward corps is pretty thin - if set - as is, and they need to keep the depth on their D to try to replace the top-end strength they lost in Nieds. I guess if Lou says they're doing something they'll do something but I can't imagine what. You could say White would be moved but I doubt the Devils would move someone who is at the moment their top stay-at-home defenseman. You could say Gomez would be moved because the Devils don't want two smallish centers on the two top lines but that'd be kinda jumping the gun until you see what Parise is on the NHL level. GA Devil
How about waiting for training camp? There just might be a Rat ready to step up. Normally, I'd say McAmmond, but I don't really know if he's a winger or not. People have been voicing Suglobov. It would be nice if he could step up, but I have my doubts. Maybe Voros, but the way he faded last year leaves large doubts. I think the real dark horse here is Nittel. If he can kill on the PP in the NHL the way he has the AHL, then he just might earn himself a spot.
Jdub
Well now that we can forget Kariya.. I know many of you as i would love to have Mogilny back.. Selanne is still out there aswell.. just maybe trying to add some more points to the line-up
CaptainRafalski
I would like to have Mogilny back but as we all know he has had problems with his hip recently but then again anyone can get hurt no matter what their medical history. I will trust Lou no matter what.
ghdi
Personally I'd like to see the Devils go after Mariusz Czerkawski, hes criminally underrated and provides a spark offensively. Friesen is good but he's going to cost the most out of all our RFA's. Sign and trade him for a lower priced centerman, and use the surplus to sign Czerkawski.
