Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer only worthwhile album to come out this year I've heard such varying things about that album, I really do need to check it out... RowdyFan42
Ah, yes. The thread where all the cool kids tell the rest of us what we should've been listening to this year. I kid, I kid. Then again, I haven't been much into new music this year. Some songs here and there, but not really full albums. So... I'll have to check some of these out. I didn't know Weezer came out with another album.
thelastonealive
Ah, yes. The thread where all the cool kids tell the rest of us what we should've been listening to this year. Damn straight. TV On The Radio. You'll thank me someday. (The thing about them is, I don't even like the new album as much as the one prior to it, at least not yet, and it's STILL far and away the best new album this year.) DaneykoIsGod
Black Ice and Death Magnetic. Clutch also put out a live disc (Full Fathom Five) that included some songs recorded at Starland, and that was pretty good. Most new bands make me want to stab myself in the ears. Gotta love the old standbys (and Metallica getting closer to sounding like their old selves).

devilsrule33
Dear Science is one of my favourite albums of the year as well. No one mentioned Day and Age, which I think is good enough to be on a top ten list.
halfsharkalligatorhalfman
Nice you all have some solid lists. Here's mine 1. Girl Talk - Feed the Animals 2. M83 - Saturdays = Youth 3. Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer 4. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges 5. Mogwai - Hawk is Howling 6. TV on the Radio - Dear Science 7. (Here is where I would put Radiohead - In Rainbows if you consider it a 2008 release) 7. Ryan Adams - Cardinology 8. The Killers - Day & Age (although the bonus track "Forget about what I said" is the best song) 9. Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy 10. David Byrne & Brian Eno - Everything that is Happening... BONUS 11. The Fireman (Paul McCartney) - Electric Arguments
Weekes Head
in no particular order: city and colour - bring me your love the gaslight anthem - the '59 sound of montreal - skeletal lamping the infadels - universe in reverse an horse - rearrange beds ratatat - lp3 the airborne toxic event - the airborne toxic event kings of leon - only by the night anberlin - new surrender same honorable mention to the hunter's lullaby by raine maida. uh, death cab disappointed me a bit. it was kind of too inconsistent for my liking. i liked modern guilt, but i don't think it wasn't one of my favorites this year. Day & Age intrigues me, might ask for it for Christmas or something... Totally forgot about Wolf Parade - though I liked the first album better, At Mount Zoomer was definitely solid... the airborne toxic event - the airborne toxic event I REALLY like Sometime Around Midnight, but keep hearing that the rest of the album is nothing like it - I take it it's good nonetheless? Weekes Head
there are maybe two other songs on the album that sound like sometime around midnight, but lyrically, the album is brilliant. i don't so much appreciate it from a musical standpoint -- the lyrics just got me. Totally forgot about Wolf Parade - though I liked the first album better, At Mount Zoomer was definitely solid... I don't think Evil Urges compares to Z at all, but its quite good and I still listen to it fairly regularly The new Killers album is basically the Killers channeling the Pet Shop Boys. I preferred Sam's Town which never really got the respect it deserved from the Hipster community. I actually like At Mount Zoomer better than their debut. I think its better to have their songs go on longer and develop organically. Kissing the Beehive is one of the best tracks on the album and its consistently interesting despite being 10 minutes plus. This is my top ten but really I consider the top 3 albums far better than the rest. Basically 4-10 is in no real order. But the top three are very strong. Girl Talk especially is terrific. The most fun album I've heard ever.
