I think you may have misinterpreted. Friedman says that Shero may feel that defense is the most pressing need and he mentions the top 2 rated ones. He rhetorically asks if Shero would move down to draft one. Shero could just as easily get some via trade or UFA.

I will say it again - I still hold on to hope that Kovy comes back to NJ. If he doesn't, I want something comparable in return...

Doesn't sound like Friedman is basing it on any specific intel. Most likely it is just talk. Dallas I could see maybe moving #3 but I would bet against that to, they have plenty of guys to pay and to take a run at it you usually need good talent on ELCs to.

I still hold a grudge for that major in 2012. I know, I know. I should let it go. It was a bad call, Scuderi (I believe) turned into it, it could happen to anyone, etc. But God damn it if that penalty wasn't an awful way to end a phenomenal run to the finals.

Damn...I was "only" 32 years old then. No wife (though I was engaged). No house yet. No kid. Watched that Game 7 at a bar called Chammps with a bunch of friends...it was fun (I saw the Devils hoist their 2000 Cup at Bar A), but nothing will ever top being there for the 95 Cup. Though that 2003 SCF Game 7 felt pretty solid at 2-0 to start the third, it wasn't until Friesen scored late in that period to make it 3-0 that I felt like they were truly and completely safe. Just hard to believe it's already been that long.

that blogtalkradio platform makes it sound like AM radio, but I've been listening to those guys for over a year and they definitely know what they're talking about and do a great job interacting with the listeners, which is more than i can say for the actual Devils organisation edit: or this douche Francesca for that matter

I definitely disagree with that. I think they do a lot of cool stuff with it. Maybe the only thing bush league about it is the audio production - I don't know if that's because of the platform they use (blog talk radio) to interact with callers but sometimes it can be laggy and drop their audio. At least when I listen to it on the podcast. They do a lot of cool stuff with it though like today they're having the University of Minnesota Duluth's head coach on to talk about Joey Anderson... they've talked to other people like this too such as Missisauga's HC... they've done interviews with former Devils like Krzysztof Oliwa, Salvador, etc... they talk to Kevin Clark pretty regularly... IDK. They've been a god send for my commute back and forth from Avon by the Sea to Philly, but I do agree with the other poster saying some episodes run a little long. I just have it on as background noise though, it's not like you need to listen to every episode to completion lol. They're pretty professional about it, IMO. The gameday podcast they did this past year for the Devils (Devils Tailgate) was good too, home games would have an interview with a player. As far as them calling in and trolling Francesa, I found it humorous but that's cause I can't stand that guy or the WFAN in general. Never listen to that sh!t.

I'm also switching back to Patrick. Playing with an diagnosed sports hernia is no joke. I don't want to say winning No1 overall is ruined by philly getting number 2 but its certainly taking the shine off. Imagine Patrick is chronically injured and Hischier turns into Datsyuk 2.0 for the flyers for the next 10 years... It's gonna be hard to deal with. Shero and the devils scouting staff HAVE to get this right.

One of those guys I think could be great if he got his act together. Problem is, he never gets his act together.
