Isles, Pens, Caps, Wings and Flyers ALL in action on Thurs…and none of them are playing each other. Same ol drill…hope for a fvckton of help.

How funny would it be if this mediocre Devils team eliminates the Rangers again? I may never stop laughing.

At this point the team to focus on is the Flyers. The Devils are 6 points back of them but with the same number of games played. Caps up 5 but have two games in hand.

This officiating is laughable. Talk about home cooking.

Since the start of 2022-23: Goalie A: .900 save%, -12.1 GSAA, .505 QS% Goalie B: .903 save%, -3.1 GSAA, .571 QS% Goalie A is Markstrom Goalie B is Vanecek Sorry Fitz, if you wind up with Markstrom AND you have to give up key assets to do it, I’ll consider it a “throw it against the wall and hope it sticks” failure. The fact is based on the balance of the last two seasons, you have no idea what Markstrom’s gonna provide, and that’s a serious problem. He basically had one nice extended streak (22 games, .926 save% from early December to early March this season), but has been plenty meh the rest of the time over the last two years. He’s not a solution, he's a giant fvcking question mark. Question Markstrom indeed.

I think best case is they manage to miss by 1 or 2 wins and we sit here pointing at the likely 10+ opportunities they thew away.

I'm more concerned about the games that the devils should be winning. With how they've played against "lesser" teams this season, I'd almost rather play the playoff bound teams at this point.

Funny store with this one... as I live on Central time, games typically start "early" for me (6pm, 6:30pm) so I'm normally having to watch on delay after the kiddo goes to bed. I started watching this one on delay pretty late via Hulu instead of the ESPN+ app but at some point midway thru the 2nd period my feed kept reverting back to the beginning of the period when I tried to skip thru a commercial break (and I couldn't skip forward to where I originally was). Ugh. By then, the actual game had been over so I figured I'd just switch over to the ESPN+ app and watch the actual replay from where I left off... but unfortunately the only replay feed available at the time was the Spanish broadcast. It was getting late so I'm like fvck it, we'll just go with that. Even though I could only comprehend about 20% of the commentary (probably less), it was fun as heck. I like Steve Levy but I'm 100% listening to the Spanish broadcast next time we get a Sean McDonough game.

Nico, Timo, and Bratt all at the top of the card. That line was just clicking tonight. Timo's goal was awesome. Nico winning a battle and getting the puck to Bratt. Bratt with the patience to allow a scoring chance to develop. Timo finding the soft spot in front. Exactly what you want from that line.

That’s why they play the games.

I’m glad the Devils won this one while the Leafs were missing Marner and Reilly. I’m not optimistic about what might happen when they go back to Toronto in April, but first thing’s first: they need to be sure that game actually matters.

If the Devils all of a sudden get hot and barely miss the playoffs……. If I was the owner, I’m cleaning house because waiting too long to fire Lindy and getting a competent goalie is inexcusable.

So the Devils play exactly one game over the next six days: Friday @ Buffalo (3/29). After that, they don't play again until Tues, vs the Pens (4/2). By then some of the current "games in hand" that teams have on the Devils will have evened out. As far as semi-catchable/in the mud with the Devils teams go: Flyers: 3/28 @ Montreal, 3/30 vs Blackhawks, 4/1 vs Isles Caps: 3/28 @ Leafs, 3/30 vs Bruins Red Wings: 3/28 @ Hurricanes, 3/30 @ Panthers, 4/1 @ Lightning Isles: 3/28 @ Panthers, 3/30 @ Lightning, 4/1 @ Flyers Not mentioning the Sabres or Pens because the way I see it, if the Devils fall behind either team at this point, they're probably screwed anyway. When 4/2 rolls around, here's who's playing who: Pens @ Devils Caps @ Sabres Isles @ Blackhawks Basically, we'll know for sure by 4/2 if the Devils have any chance at all, or are merely playing out the string.

We just won two good games in a row. We all know how this one plays out.

A fantastic, hard working line. Perfect mix of finesse and strength out there in the offensive zone. Makes one wonder why they weren't given a chance to do this with regularity earlier in the season...

Also, while on the "Fitz please don't" train...don't bring Toffoli back. Not even on a short-term deal. Said it before, but Toffoli's the kind of player where if you put together a highlight reel of his goals, and then couple that with the fact he's scored 30+ two seasons in a row, it's easy to say "I want that guy, he can really find the net!"...and of course, everyone loves goals. But after having seen him with the Devils, and seeing how Winnipeg's doing with him in the lineup (albeit a short sample), I now view him as more of a "cosmetic" guy, who yeah, puts some pucks home but doesn't really move the needle much, and who you don't really miss as much as you'd think you would once he's gone. You can also put together of a reel of games where you barely even notice he played, or where his lack of speed hurts his linemates. Nothing against him, and I understood making the deal the first time, but I wouldn't understand a Part Deux with him. He just doesn't do nearly enough else, and besides, I'd much rather see the Devils add physicality or more of an all-arounder.

Another rough night for Nemec. Poor kid doesn’t have a chance being anchored to Smith. Nico, Timo, and Luke were all fantastic tonight.

I'd say wheels are off but getting out shot 10 - 25 doesn't exactly indicate they were on to begin with.
