Second time in four games where the Devils had a very tough first period, and looked a hell of a lot better in the second.  They may not win this game, but I like what Ruff has done with what he has to work with so far.

This is one thing I'm very happy about so far. I feel like Devils teams of the last few years would have just buckled in those situations. And most likely crumbled against the Rangers in the 3rd.

I think Jack’s played a pretty solid game. Seems all over the puck in the offensive zone, at least. Islanders are a tight defensive bunch, not surprised we haven’t seen him be as flashy.

It’s understandable. It’s just a place where someone needs to step up in the 3rd. If he’s gonna be the man, then he’s the one.

Well Smith is keeping his streak alive. That's good enough for me for the night. But this game is still salvageable. We could get a point or 2 out of it maybe

I’m really excited about Ty. A young core of Nico, Jack, Mac, Ty, and Bratt is a pretty solid foundation to build around.

Then we have Holtz and Mercer on the way, and you’d hope at least one of them will turn out to be something.
