MantaRay
Oh no! The Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) rumors were BS? No surprise, I think Lou just waited on announcing this a few days.
Jeff Allen
Great news, I like Martin a lot and he'll learn a lot from Larry Robinson this year. Can't wait to see what the contract length and value is though, should be interesting. Edited August 16, 2007 by BigDrive_Score!

njskaguy33
Oh no! The Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) rumors were BS? Is Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) anything but BS? Nice signing...given the trend of giving players longer contracts at less money, I'm going to say 4 years at 2 mil.
NJD Jester
Sorry, folks. I just talked to a mall security guard in Woodbridge who talked to a guy named Martin Paul who heard from a caller to WFAN that Martin hasn't signed, and that we're trading him and Patrik Elias to the Sharks for Joe Thornton, all four "Jaws" DVDs and the rights to Pat Falloon. <JESTER>
Triumph
3 yrs 2.4 million is my projection sorry this is an insane dream 3 years 4 million per is about where i expect it to hit
halfsharkalligatorhalfman
my guess: 3 years 3.2 million
Jeff Allen
I don't think it will be more costly than parise's contract but you never know. He might want more money since he has more responsibility.
CaptainLangs
I don't think it will be more costly than parise's contract but you never know. Elias26
I'd say around 4-5.5M per year...
LOTCB
Paul resigned? Man sorry to hear he left the team...
Deek_1969
So you are saying Paul Martin will get Parise $$$? I think Whitey is making about $3 per, so Marin might get $2.4 per. Guess we will see in the next few days. Regardless, at least he is locked up.
Triumph
sigh - Parise has nothing to do with what Martin will receive.
Deek_1969
Martin's $$ may not have anything to do with Parise, but it everything dto do with relative team worth. Agree?? Should he be the highest paid defender? I saw someone post 4+ per.....and that is CRAZY!! But like I said, at least he is locked.

Yea..That was probably me...I don't think it would be crazy for our # to make over 4M.... Anything under 4 is a steal by Lou....

Considering of the defensemen left on the team, he led the team in ice time, and will certainly lead the team in ice time again this year, yes, he should be the highest paid defenseman. Deek_1969
Maybe you are right 26. I am just considering the talent we could have picked up for 4-5 per.
Triumph
Maybe you are right 26. I am just considering the talent we could have picked up for 4-5 per. FWIW I think it will come in between 3.5 and 4.5 million. But there wasn't much talent we could've picked up for that kind of price, and there CERTAINLY isn't that kind of talent available next off-season which is the real key.
